The Staircase (2022)
It's simply BORING!
Through the years I've seen many versions of the story or saga and sadly each remake is more pathetic. I got roped into watching this one because I was told it was only 3 episodes. Pushed myself to finish. Don't get Sophie. Don't know what's truth or fiction in this story any longer. All I know is it was too long and stop stretching stories to fit a fake narrative.
Law & Order (1990)
Just okay but new writers can spice it up
The writing has been super lazy. Ripped from the headlines doesn't mean read the headlines as dialogue! Not many twists and turns or originality
You may not have noticed but there are almost a full 5-6 minutes cut from the original programs. That's actually a lot. That goes to advertising now. I miss a 25 minute police story prior to the courtroom part and the crossover with both sides of the show. If your wondering what's so different - that's a big issue.
I guess it's harder to watch regular TV now with streaming available but the continuous breaks are getting worse.
Yellowstone (2018)
Enjoyable Dallas type drama
I've been enjoying the show. I just finished season 4 and noticed there's simply no humor. The cinematography is beautiful. I'm not one for Westerns but they call this a Western and Justified a Western. Justified is simply brilliant. Highly recommend if you missed it. I hope they branch out in story lines that aren't fights and rodeos and develop relationships deeper than a few episodes. I happen to like Beth. All shows need a villain.
The Chelsea Detective (2022)
What a GEM!
Wonderful well rounded characters especially for a first season show. I want more. I certainly hope it's renewed and they keep up the quality writing and acting. I just find it so enjoyable. Not too dark. Quirky & coupled with a good story line. Continuous personal drama but completion of "murder of the week" (so to speak)
I really enjoyed this show.
The Thing About Pam (2022)
Spoof off a true story. Beware psychopathic friends.
It appears that the reviews here come from two ends of the spectrum. This isn't a documentary but was based on a Dateline story about a psycho/sociopath. Great cast. Unfortunately, episodes are only dropping once a week so for the curious who haven't seen the original Datelines it may get aggravating waiting for the weekly episodes. I had to look up the crazy story while awaiting the final episodes. I should have waited to watch all at once.
Informer (2018)
Gripping thriller
Sadly I just read it's not renewed. I still suggest watching - it gives you a ending instead of an annoying cliffhanger. I've started too many shows that don't end and then aren't renewed. Enjoy. I may rewatch it.
The White Lotus (2021)
Can't compare to a British Satire. Just a few notes...
I found way too much filler. Too long on shots of nothing with music that made it boring at times. This could have been done in 4 episodes given the story line. Many plot holes. Cast was great. A couple of likeable characters which to me is not enough. Appeared that character development was all over the top. No subtlety at all.
Nine Perfect Strangers (2021)
Not a thriller and barely a mystery.
I don't know but Nicole is starting to look like a mannequin - similar to the Thirteenth Floor episode of the Twilight Zone. Stop with the Botox. If you can't do Russian simply change the country of origin. It had nothing to do with the story anyway. It was a throwaway. I found it boring and depressing with a lot of loose ends. I heard they green lit a season 2. I did really enjoy Big Little Lies but this can't compare even given a blockbuster cast. I always enjoy watching Bobby C.
Truth Be Told (2019)
Why was I so bored by the end?
I found Octavia's acting flat. The constant change in "who done it" was so silly. The final episode narration was so wordy I actually fast forwarded through most of the monologue to reach THE END. After watching 8 episodes I did this. Yet, I will still give series 2 a try. Hopefully it will improve and take its criticisms as constructive.
