The Reincarnation of Peter Proud (1975)
Eeerie Spooky Supernatural Mystery Cult Film
Eerie tale. Spooky. This story was said to have originated from a real couple in which the man drowned in a boat with the original murder covered up in a quiet small town due to shame of their alternative S & M lifestyle in which the town set them aside socially. It was then traced to various locations from new England, West, South West and the East Coast. The Clue in the book but left out of the film depicting a mark on the female (Marcia) wife's lowered frontal blue diamond "birthmark" which captivated the husband Jeff unknowing that it was a tattoo branded from an overseas brothel house where Marcia fled from abuse but she was matched up with a troubled and abusive man as her spouse. This brought about conflicting feelings in which she commits his murder which then Peter Proud placed himself in danger's way with Marcia as Jeff's supposed reincarnation. The type of mark on Marcia of her overseas' house was to invite the men who were alternative but not branded from the back as with other houses with the ordinary sex. Maria's involvements were never truly revealed so the reincarnation seeker Dr. Peter Proud may or may not have dated his daughter (Ann) as the father since it was unknown, reincarnation a mystery. It is assumed but questioned as whether Jeff now to be Dr. Peter Proud who is part Native Indian teaching Indian Studies believing he had the soul of a man inside of him as Indians believe, believing he was the reincarnate of Jeff. Peter traveled from the East to the West Coast based in his dreams and a television documentary during a time without the technology yet he could have visited the television station to better research first or speak to his real estate family to see where they visited. Both Jeff and Peter were unprepared to cope with Marcia's dark side as she herself was conflicted rising from the complacent to the terror into murderous, alcoholic and psychotic states of mind. This was seen as Marcia in the bathtub which puzzled audiences of her pleasure and anger over abuse, but her conflict showed and her alternatives and abuses as she ended up turning her to become an alcoholic. Marcia has been traced in real life to a European sex club house as a mistress to invite when they open their rib showing their tattoo but not a back brand of prostitution by being taken. She traveled with a suitor to a remote town in the United States in which they passed themselves off with faked names as father and daughter. She found herself trapped in her lifestyle, thinking life was better in America. Marcia then took up with Jeff her own age in which she got pregnant and the older man, the "father" married her off. Due to unspoken content in the Seventies, the men's magazines wrote articles to explain the confusion for the audiences of book and for the film. Houses of worship discussed. Today we have television and film dealing with alternative contents. The movie could be edited with unseen footage with some dialogue to explain the unforseen. The movie is spooky and takes the viewer on the path of the dangers of seeking the unknown, the mind control involved with the cycle of relationship abuse, flashbacks and the possibility of negative return happenings. Forces here are seen which are eerie and spooky. Supernatural film now a cult classic.
Matchstick Men (2003)
Con Artist Twist
Nicolas Cage delivers his acting so freshingly at his best as the high level confidence man with OCD in his professional life making his success and wealth happen, then in his private life that becomes his weakness that brings both his fall and then a newfound beginning...entire cast is great interacting.
The Sister in Law (1974)
Mod Love Triangles in Suspense
The cast did a great smashing job! Although John Savage was the one chosen who went in for the successful career please do not overlook Will MacMillan for his combination of dashing looks, charm and sophistication which was vombined with camp wit and sinister approach that made the film work very well until his Exit to Paris end with Anne Saxon, his film wife who was also underrated as the Phoebe Cates of her time. She went on to model very modern tailored clothes magazine feature then the critics pulled her success down that her nudity was not for children or teenagers but kids gave been exposed then and now to nudity, which is another position to think about. Anne was in sophisticated clothes in the magazine and in most of the movie. The love scenes were just a bit suggestive but the content involved star crossed lovers cheating taboos which resolved then it was a surprise violent ending . The movie really needed a sequel of what happened after their exit to Paris, what happened to the shared mistress played by Meridith Jan Baxter who is faced with tragefy that she and Will faced with a drug deal hone wrong. Yet although once the situation had been taken down back in NY with someone to blame, there may not have been a reason for the Young couple if Anne and Will having to leave but the couple didn't know.... There could have been a sequel chaser like The Tourist or love triangle melodrama that ends well as Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The critics did not understand this trendy cult film. Meridith Jan Baxter became a successful interior designer after playing this sweet but mischief making young lady who sets the stage to lose her true found love. Frank Adonis was convincing in his role as the good and bad guy. The rest of the acting staff was very natural as upscale suburbinites who could be your own family. There was utmost style with the wardrobe, houses and apartments as well as country and city settings. The chase scene was unique as a combo of slow and fast movement which not typical so it holds your interest. The swimming pool cat lady fight was a surprise then the guys also got into it too. Anne showed yoga and barefoot basketball abilities. In the end the couple resolved their love to Exit to Paris then undetected as it would not be possible as to be filmed today as airports do not have secret exits with cameras everywhere. Interesting to see that. It takes us back to a time of certain freedoms and emotions that are politically incorrect but spontaneous. The Film was very stylish and now there is contemplation to exit to Paris as in a recent film where fallen socialites exit to a new place to survive their end years. This film had some minor casual nudity which upset critics then which overshadowed the film's success, and hindered the actors and actresses unfairly. Today audiences have seen nudity in films which may be lessened so to come. In the end, this become a popular cult film.
