True Detective: Black Maps and Motel Rooms (2015)
Season 2, Episode 7
10/10
I can't hide my excitement for this episode!
2 August 2015
I think this episode was SO GOOD!

Everything felt so right. So many pieces were brought together! The acting, directing, writing, everything was on pair with the first season! A little too late? Maybe. Did it happen nonetheless? Yes. But you cannot deny the greatness of this episode. The dystopic feeling throughout the whole episode were fantastic.

To sum it up: the first 3 episodes of this season were too slow, too incoherent and it's obvious Justin Lin has ruined the directing in the first two episodes. (face it, it's obvious he has)

But since episode 4 everything has been so good! Episode 5,6 and now 7 has been, to be honest, a fantastic experience to watch. I've enjoyed it so much! I'm extremely anxious to see the season finale. (which to our luck will be 90 minutes)

Give credit where credit is due. This episode: 9.5/10.

Here's my thoughts(might be spoilers)
22 June 2015
I'm going to make this review quick and efficient!

+ Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams: They acted the hell out of it. Especially Colin Farrell, he's brutally good!

+/- I was not stunned by the directing. I definitely think there were moments of sheer visual brilliance (the bar with Vince and Colin / Frank and Ray) but overall, the directing were a bit rushed.

+ I liked the writing. It was slow, not as philosophical as season 1, but still it was good!

  • My only real complaint is the cutting (which might be due to the directing). The scenes were often too short. It's a shame, since we kinda lost the tension between the characters. Hopefully the scenes will be longer throughout the season, and they were rushing because they had to introduce all these new characters.

Overall it's a 9/10. I really enjoyed it. I think season 2 will be very dark and there will be some very unpleasant and brutal scenes (referring to Farrell/Ray beating up the dad in front of his son).

Detach yourself from season 1, this is season 2. Something brand new. Personally i think it's going to be an awesome ride!

Better Call Saul: Nacho (2015)
Season 1, Episode 3

Excelente!

I think there's few (screenplay)-writers who can pull off so much dialogue, whilst still being highly entertaining; Tarantino, Cohen-Brothers, Kubrick, Woody Allen, and more. - and then there is Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould.

I think the writing of Better Call Saul is absolutely superb. Many of the scenes are so flawlessly constructed that you want them to simply continue. It's so gripping! (I felt the same way with Breaking Bad and True Detective)

Kudos to the team for making this series. I love every bit of it! Give the show a chance and I think you'll love it!

My vote for this episode: 9.5/10.

Better Call Saul: Mijo (2015)
Season 1, Episode 2

Yes! TightTightTight.

Better Call Saul certainly delivers!

This is exactly the blend of a dark plot, clever dialogue and intensity that i love! "Mijo" was more action-packed and certainly contributed to the development of Saul Goodman (James McGill). He is definitely heading for a dark route!

The episode was flawlessly written, superb acting and the directing + cinematography is outstanding! (Just like Breaking Bad, but yet Better Call Saul has its own soul)

My vote is: 9.4/10. So far I love the show. Give it a chance, and we will certainly see our beloved lawyer (and others) break-bad!

Wow!

This episode definitely exceeded my expectations! I think Breaking Bad was absolute brilliance, so I had high expectations for 'Better Call Saul'. I was VERY satisfied and I felt the first episode brought back the whole 'Breaking Bad fever'.

Outstanding acting, directing and cinematography. They are definitely aiming for a big plot!

Kudos to the writers. I hope you can keep up the tension, humor and drama throughout the show (just like Breaking Bad).

I'm giving it a 9.5/10. I loved it and I thought it was an excellent start!

Californication: Levon (2014)
Season 7, Episode 1

Great start!

Thank you Showtime! It was good to see the old faces again.

What a great way to start out the final season of Californication. I've been watching this series religiously since the first season and i absolutely love it! I hope this season will share the same quality as the former 6 seasons. Episode 7x1: humorous, intelligent and the acting - as always - was executed very well. I have a feeling (especially by the end of this episode) that this season will blow our mind!

Sadly this is the last season of the show.... So i hope we'll have a grand finale!

10/10 from me. Loved it.

The Walking Dead: The Grove (2014)
Season 4, Episode 14

Speechless....
17 March 2014
This episode was so dark, intense and extremely well written. I'm just sitting here, and i am speechless! This was not the most action packed episode of the walking dead, but yet you sit with the most hollow and empty feeling. At this moment, i feel shaken all the way into my core.......

I cannot speak for the majority of the viewers, but i think this is one of the best episodes in the Walking Dead so far. The acting was executed VERY well, and so was the systematic build-up for "the big moment". Earlier this year Andrew Lincoln was interviewed by Yahoo TV and said: "The Most Controversial Episode We've Ever Done Is Still to Come". He might referred to the Grove...........

Finally, it opens so many ethical aspects and questions, and i think it's an episode everyone - in one way or another - can relate to. Especially if you have children, a sibling, etc.

I hope the last two episodes share the same quality as this episode. This is a solid 10/10 for me. Gut wrenching, touching and very intense! Loved it.
