Finding the Money (2023)
Simply wrong and utter nonsense
Its impressive how delusional a group of small academics noon have ever heard of can be, despise all evidence provind them wrong, they simply make up their own accounts of history and taxation economics and reinvent debt as something of value. The fringe school or cult of MMT is not making the case for they "the world is upside " down and good is bad and bad is good theory, instead anyone with credentials, which is interviewed are frankly puzzled about these Ludacris claims, which goes entirely unproven. Weird cartoons and historical lies are placed instead of arguments and sound logic or anything an economic professor used to explain complex things with, in the upside down world, you take something complex and make it incomprehensible.
Argylle (2024)
Hollywood trash in its purest form
No need to spend two hours for this ones, its a waste of good actors crammed into something that doesn't even remotely resemble a storyline or a halfdecent movie. You would be well advised to stay clear of this one. I want to write something nice, but I get the two three songs in the beginning is the best part of the movie. Fair warning I stopped in half way in as it was deteriorating to complete waisted of time. Hard to write any spolers and this would imply more meaning or a plot that could somehow be revealed, besides lining the actors pockets. What a sad travesty of nonsensical crap Hollywood have become.
Mystery Road (2018)
Boring beyond belief
A slow paced dumpster outback tale that goes absolutely nowhere painstakingly slow.
The only thing in plenty amount in the series is dust and the feeling of depressing outskirts dread, which the series delivers to an Oscar. After the first few episode, the lack of storyline kinda evolves into a sitting around in the dessert talking about trivial stuff. I do think its marginally more interesting than watching paint dry, but my hopes that there actually is a story hidden in the outskirts dessert have faded and I am accepting that maybe Australian series and films might just not be for me. Would recommend passing this.
Vildmænd (2021)
Funny amateur movie
Casual comedy set in Norway.
The movie delivers some comical relief and even though the lead role, delivers decent acting, the whole movie and script is a lackluster amateurish achievement, just a bit more mediocre than the mean.
Margrete den første (2021)
Disappointing, great potential waisted.
I am a great fan of our greatest king, which was a queen namely Margrethe the first, daughter of Valdemar Atterdag, the king that made Denmark a nation.
The storyline is confusing and the queen motivation for her rather odd behaviour isn't realistic at all, would you recognize your own son after 15 years apart, the answer is somehow yes to make the lousy plot make any sense.
Overall the acting is weak and fails to portray the strength of a woman that held three kingdoms together in a time where men ruled everything. Trine Dyrholm performance is lackluster and it feels like she is reading from a teleprompter.
The photography and scenaries, stil make it worth watching, but it a shame that the producers fails in making this what it could and should have been and instead delivers a very forgettable movie.
My Octopus Teacher (2020)
Remarkable, unque and highly recommendable
It is a magnificent shot documentary, that captures you from the first second. It's def. more than just another documentary about nature, it's about man and nature or the nature of man, besides the marvelous steam of life where other intelligent creatures lives. One of these we follow intimately.
Whether there are some anthropomorphic biases inherent in the documentary, but of course, even though our narrator and human, def. starts thinking like an octopus, maybe the octopus also starts behaving more like a human.
I adored this masterpiece. Highly recommendable.
The Last Igloo (2019)
Inauthentic attempt to show the inuit ways
Beautiful film and potentially interesting way of life, but the film itself comes of inauthentic, not only is the main person the worst hunter of all times only catching one mesly uneatable fish the whole documentary. But his claim an Igloo just takes 1 hour to build and then 3 weeks later its finally finished makes the documentary. Not sure what story the BBC wanted to tell, but why isnt the hunter catching anything. Documentary seems very inauthentic and shallow, not worth the time.
Mandy (2018)
Best Nicolas Cage movie since Faceoff
I was positively surprised by the audacious overload of visual and audio stimuli.
The drunkard Nicolas Cage, that haven't starred in anything but pure and other crap since the great Faceoff movie, is cast perfectly, with little to no lines he can screw up.
The whole movie is a beautiful lucid dream, tripping in the vast unknown red forest of the occult.
Recommendable,
Siberia (2018)
Half a movie no real story
I adore Keanu Reaves, but this movie simply doesn't work, the main actors are good, but the rest of the storyline and cast is virtually no-existent. There is little tangible evidence, there was a decent script or any idea behind the movie. Waste of time 3/10
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)
Mediocre and far from Tolkien
I agree with most reviewer, that this is by far the worst movie so far, the elvish couple and kids-channel atmosphere destroys the many good and great scenes and creates and ambiguity that never leaves you. Also the fact that the whole atmosphere is gloomy does come through, but since the story line is so muddied up is fancy ninja elf-clowns fights it's hard to not feel cheated. I wanted to love and adore and worship this movie, instead I left hoping they would remake it and make it right..guess it was because they needed more money and had to make 3 films, so they invented some crap and put a bunch of kung-fu fighting elves in it after testing it on an audience of high school kids.
The Contractor (2007)
So bad I had to write a review and issue a fair warning!
Have previously enjoyed Wesley Snipes in several action flicks and I had expected a lot more, even from a score of 5.8 IMDb, the movie fails to entertain and even though the story is thin and unoriginal, the acting is most unfortunately thinner and goes to mimic a "worst case scenario" of playing "strong" feelings accompanied by some bad acting... Don't waist your time this movie ísnt entertaining, if you wanna cry it might suffice though, even though your tears will be wept due to seeing Wesley Snipes in the tragic action film wannabe comedy...
I give this 2/10 it really was awful, if you wanna see a decent movie go see shooter or rent it, its all the good things this movie isn't.
National Treasure (2004)
Nicholas Cage in big floppy movie
This movie is really bad, a bad script hinders even a talented crew from getting anywhere satisfactory or entertaining, the script is so thin, that its ups I've solved the puzzle in 120 seconds to make the storyline go on. I love Nicholas Cage and was counting on him for some serious entertainment, which never was delivered. What was delivered was Hollywood when its worst, a lot of thin lines and a even thinner story that never gets satisfactory. That a movie is beyond realistic is okey, but a movie thats hilarious and boring is not what I think should become the new standard for action movies. Judge for yourself apparently a lot of people somehow found this mildly interesting, though I don't see how.... I give this movie 1, its a rare catastrophic failure!
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
A classic vampire tale based on Bram Stokers "fairy" tale
This movie is a great piece of art, depicting Bram Stokers classic novel about the Transylvania's Count Dracula. The story is able to stir a lot of sensations every time I see it. The human side of the vampire Dracula is romantic and beautiful and Gary Oldman delivers uncompromisingly the best Dracula of our age. My favorite quote "I have crossed oceans of time to find you" is the epitome of romance, the whole base is the movie is this; that love never dies and true love is greater than death! It could be argued that the original old German black & white casting Dracula perhaps is better ;) The beauty and strength of this movie is within the characters and their well-developed characters, who along with the whole atmosphere and the emotional tone of this movie really caries each person and are depicted with a depth beyond most films. I would recommend this movie to every child, woman and man who loves the mysteries of a good fairy tale. Yea and of topic I might add to every hardcore fan should dig into their local library and read about the real Vlad of the order Dracul(dragon) who did'nt drank blood, but impaled whole villages in his courtyard!
Enjoy! Kind regards Jonas
