The Equalizer (2021– )

Love it

We girls got a strong, black FEMALE lead and people seems intent to out it down just because it isn't a true copy of the old series. First: I used to enjoy Woodward as the equaliser- but he was hardly believable as some claims : Old, fat dude - out of shape. But a man. Why is that more believable than a strong woman? The naysayers need to realise their anti feminist views are shining through their reviews- AND- Woodward .... That was decades ago. Get with the times and look at Latifa rule this part.

Brilliant

I love the characters - the plots - the drive. There isn't a forced solve each episode. You're driven towards the next with force to get more than than the solve. You need the dramatics, the companionships and the sense of loyalty that doesn't go good for the bad apples. There isn't much romance other than the average interludes. And I love that it doesn't make much of an issue about sex. Too many shows do. This show has a sense of realism and grit that I recognise from the author's early books. I crave more of his books in my bookshelves- and more Bosch!

Not too bad

There are so many bad comments, they can colour your view if you didn't watch any episodes before reading a lot of unhelpful crap. One person "had to turn the captions on" because of the bad accent of the lead actress. She has an accent, but if you don't understand her, you need English lessons. I am Norwegian and had no problem understanding all. Some complain of bad realism. Ffs - do all expect realism? If so, we wouldn't see much action at all. And we watch tv or movies to be entertained and enthralled into a different reality - however how unrealistic it might be. If you're into realism you can't watch The Walking Dead, GOT, Greys Anatomy, The Late show or SNL. 99% of tv is scripted- even the news. If you have problems watching "unrealistic" shows. Turn the tv off and read a book.

It has it all

This two short seasons series has it all. It captured me from Ep1 and kept me hungry for more - on the edge of my seat. Devious politicians and businesses people , corruption, police and more. Great plot! Great acting. And a lot of action!

......so moving and so hard to watch

How does one rate such a true story tragic event that shakes you deep in your core? And it happened to children.... It is utterly disgraceful that adult professionals let this happen. A must see! And I am relieved they made it through their ordeal without giving up! Kudos!!!!

Hilarious

When you read about this show in any description, it sounds corny and awkward. However it is NOT. It is brilliant and masterfully getting through a plot worthy of P.G. Woodhouse. I literally bent over laughing (all alone) even if the plot is serious. I am looking forward to season 2.

Utterly amazing!

Le Carré's book came to life in the most beautiful way. I read this years ago and I am a huge Le Carré fan. He captured mans cruelty to one an other in a captivating way and managed to transfix his readers with ease. And this series is to me a beautiful and terrifying Le Carré painting. Love the casting! Everyone was doing their job beautifully!

Abominable

I could not watch more than 1,5 episodes of this. Flat out horrible acting and dialogue and dull colouring in the sets( which lacked a lot to even qualify as a believeable hq environment). It failed to capture onany level. Netflix: you can do better!! How anyone gives this crap a 10 is beyond me. Maybe one of the crew lol

Lifeless

I figured I'd check this out on account of Willis being a part of the cast; it couldn't be too bad- right?10 minutes into it I got the answer; a resounding No! I kept on waiting for it to get better, but it went from bad to worse. Willis disappoints to the extreme. My 3 stars was given in kind.

Scary US
8 November 2018
It is scary how white people treat people of colour. What we will justify and how far we will go in order to keep our colour( or lack of it) on the top of a man made hierarchy. And it is even scarier that The US voted for Trump as president- hopefully for only one term. Kudos Ma'am!! Thanks for educating me! ~ Black Lives Matter!

Loving this

Warning: Spoilers
How can you not love this? It makes fun of everybody who's seemingly perfect. And I'm guessing those who strive to be like that are the ones who's having difficulties with this show. Don't get me wrong - I'd love to look perfect too - but looking perfect and looking down on every one who's not distorts that perfectness and makes it dirty. Katy is a full grown woman who's given birth to several people, who's living in a loving home, who's desired by her husband and doesn't feel like drinking kale and denying herself food and cookies to look like a stick insect. It's not about healthy or unhealthy - it's about how SHE feels. She feels fat next to the skinny mums. She feel their condemnation and she's not wrong. They are looking down on her. So she defends herself by thinking negative thoughts about them. All very human and how we women are. Women are masters of the art of putting other women down. She tries to teach her kids values and give them direction. I loved that she had them pick up garbage by the road. Cruel punishment - nah. In my country all the kids have to pick litter off the street and schools to clean up before and after our independence day celebrations - no one's died of shame yet.

I'm only done with episode three - and I'm looking forward to each and every episode to come.

Gripping Drama
16 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I read a lot of negativity before I watched this. Some of the negative things I can understand, but a lot of it seems like total crap. If you want realism - do not watch crime shows except for maybe on The Discovery Channel and like minded channels. Try to watch with an open mind and perhaps you'll be surprised of what you like. This had me hooked from the beginning till the end. The characters are flawed and fragile and all of them are more real than I have seen in a while. Nina is at times so annoying and at the same time so fragile - you sense she's had a tough life. And she reveals a little at a time of this to Alec as they grow closer. He's seen her at her worst and is still intrigued. His own troubled background with his lying mother has him falling for Nina's full on openness.

Despite their personal shortcomings and problems, they try to solve a seemingly straight forward murder by a mentally ill man. But it's not straight forward. The plot takes twists and turns and leads us to questioning our pill-popping society.Everybody's got a diagnosis - is both the point and the question...
