Role Models (2008)

Where are the child advocates to protest this garbage movie?
18 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Role Models would not make it at a fun loving, antics riddled, sexual innuendo teen movie never mind a combo teen/young child star flick.

Seann William Scott knows only how to play the very same character he has since the American Pie trilogy of stupidity. Okay, the original was pretty good.

Here we have (no spoiler alert needed) two brainless idiots who were given the choice of jail or community service for some brainless accident that they had. Okay, enough with the premise of how they became Role Models.

Now we move on to the children of which are suppose to be in need of Role Models. Sadly, Hollywood decided to choose some kids who missed the 'growing up' part of childhood and went straight to acting like careless young adults complete with the vernacular and street smarts of a common thug along with a kid suffering from some sort of archaic Dungeons and Dragons affliction.

I wonder where are the child advocates that profess their dedication to keeping children safe from harm and influence unbecoming their ages? We protect our kids from sexual predators, bullying, abusive clergy but yet Hollywood, the neo-babysitters of irresponsible parents, are not held responsible for the their abusing relationship with child stars.

Where are the parents of these child stars that are mismanaged into playing adult roles? This movie is rated 'R' and for very good reason.

Then why is Hollywood allowed to use underage children in a movie for which their age group cannot go see? If you want to see the future of tomorrow's children, go see this movie and I hope you walk away (hopefully before the ending) as disgusted as I was viewing this waste of time.

Kit Kittredge proves there are a few talented people left in Hollywood
5 July 2008
Abigail Breslin is headed for Oscar nomination in this move and I would not be surprised to see this movie receive and Oscar nod for best character set. Let me explain a bit more. Some movies has characters/actors that give very strong performance but do not play well with other characters/actors within a storyline. Yes, Abigail Breslin does maintain a strong presence but without EQUAL interaction with the other characters, the movie would not have played so equal across the scenes.

The story is based in 1934, just a few years into the Great Depression. The Depression scenes plays out it injustice(s) in total disregard to social status, property possessions, job description and of course, the haves and the have not. I've been told stories from people who have lived through the Great Depression and I can tell you that the film comes pretty darn close to reality.

Abigail Breslin and her cohorts has this not so secret clubhouse in the family's yard. Secret initiation ceremonies, secret oath and secret chit-chat dominate the playtime of this secret club. As the movie progresses, we see the club forming ideas to help the less fortunate on the street where they live.

Movies like Kit Kittredge gives me hope that there are a few Hollywood idea men that are left who can present to the world, movies laced with a healthy dose of 'nice' and topped off with a dollop of a kindred spirit.

Loved it! The old wholesome Saturday afternoon good!

It has been years since I've seen this movie but I loved it when I saw it. I became interested in it because of Julianna Nicholson and her appearance on that short lived TV series "Hours". In other words, I thought she was 'hot'.

I think this movie shows the good intentions of peoples hearts when they learn they are the offenders of their own unhappiness.

Innocent and maturing guilt covered up with a nice helping of warm-hearted toppings.

This is a must see movie and don't be distracted by it Indie film beginnings.

We need more movies like this. Especially to show that even accomplished actress that appeal to the eye can really act!

disgusting piece

If this is what's needed to draw people into the theaters then it's time to quit making movies.

If this is what's going on behind the doors of a typical family then it's time to quit making movies and for people to concentrate on their kids.

This film is filled with vulgarity and suggestions of extreme parental failures. I would never, ever think of speaking the language that these kids used so easily in this film.

I rarely regret going to see a movie and then wished I had the nerve to get my money back but Weather Man is one of those films.
