Tabarnak que c'est plate!

Argh! OK, I am french Canadian. I have seen a lot a french movies, most of them I find are boring... but not all. In my book, Caro and Jeunet are the most able to provide a movie better than the "let's converse over a diner" we see so often. But maybe those two should leave sci-fi alone.

In Dante 01 (from Caro), you will find the prisoners from Alien3 in the Alien:Resurrection set, with people all around that speak but never say anything but hollow babble. And boy that Chinese girl is bad. Really awful. Please stop acting, if ever you call that acting. Get a job at Burger King, whatever.

That's it. Oh, yes, that is a movie that features SFX that are OK in Dr Who or The outer Limits, but these are TV shows, right?

John Carpenter, it ain't

I like to give indie movies their chance. Low budgets, I can live with it. Lack of experience, well, sometimes. In this case, the first forty-five minutes sustained my interest. The acting seems kinda uneven. Like, say, they learned to act through the process. Unfortunately, the movie was shot out of order, so, basically, the acting seems of random quality. At least, they tried. As for the story and the editing... when you see most of names three of four times on the credits, you know you are swimming in freaking low budget sea. But let's be fair. You can find something interesting in the in the first half of this movie. After that, when they try to get some action and the story moving, everything goes to clichéland. I can live with low budget, new-to-the-work director or sort, a kind of lack or originality, but now too much in the same plate. I tried to give this movie its chance. They just won't let me.

Disappointing mess (minor spoilers)
13 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
One can say that this movie has two parts. In the first half (more or less) you get a decent zombie movie that moves fast and bleeds a lot. Plot holes are relatively minor and you don't want to give them too much attention. The settings (remote woods) make things different than the usual urban lot.

Then... they get to the "camp". And you stop wondering why so many people hate this movie. No more action, or very little , and then the rip-off. They poorly steel from 28 Days Later, anything Romero, and even Robert Kirkman's "Walking Dead". And they talk. They talk. They just won't shut up and you really do not care about their mind. Then it ends after a feeble try to get better (and rip 28 Days Later even more ).

And it's a happy ending. Oh, I mean you're happy to hit the eject button, that is.

Too bad, it started well.
