The O.C. (2003)
So sad it's been cancelled :(
I started watching this show around about the 4th episode. I was instantly hooked. I mean, who wouldn't want to sit around for and watch the demise of the rich? It is/was (depending on your mileage) a good show, but it's ratings dropped, unfortunately and so it has been reduced to 3 1/2 seasons, but that's the beauty of technology: You can always buy the seasons on DVD ;) I own the first and second myself (not the third yet, sadly) and have seen every episode on those 12 discs countless times, and it never gets old. It's witty sarcasm and hard lessons give new light to the most cliché of scenarios, and for that reason, I encourage anyone who has not seen it, and enjoys watching beautiful people wander around a beautiful beach, getting viciously assaulted, manipulated and saved by more beautiful people, to rent the DVDs and WATCH THIS SERIES. This is definitely a show for the ages, even if it didn't last long :(
Anastasia (1997)
Surprisingly Disney-ish for a Non-Disney movie
I have heard all the comments that this movie is historically incorrect. That's a good point, but not one that should affect the viewers opinion of the movie. You can go on and on about how bad you think the storyline or animation is, but if you insist on disliking the movie because of it's factuality (or lack thereof), then you must not have grasped the spirit of the movie. The spirit is what counts. And before people go and think that I really do think the animation and storyline suck, I Don't. I have no problem with the animation, and I'm always a sucker for a good romance, which is what this movie offers. Somehow it seems more.... mature than a Disney movie. More 'grown-up' so to speak. I don't know why, but I think it deals with the relationship on a deeper level, or maybe I'm crazy and it's exactly like any Disney relationship... either way, it was still very good and I'd recommend it to anyone. Unless you don't like animation, catchy songs, cute little puppies and ridiculously handsome con-men that you can't help but fall in love with.
Selling Innocence (2005)
Creepy Twist O.o
This movie was an awesome Made for TV movie. I usually have my skepticisms about those, having judged from past experiences that they're not all that entertaining. This one had me hooked however. Mia had lots of people who cared for her and she knew she was doing something wrong, but then when the guy who was supposed to be helping her turned out to be the stalker! That was just way too creepy. My friend in Ontario watched it 3 hours before me and I resented him telling me that there was a huge twist in the plot, needless to say once I saw the guy whom I can only think of as Hank from Corner Gas My mind sorta clicked and I thought "He's the guy." It was a pretty good move though, and it is an issue that needs to be taken care of. This movie may just have raised enough awareness to actually get something moving. But maybe not. Nothing is for certain, especially with today's attitude towards profanity and anything sex-related.
6Teen (2004)
6teen: the ideal Saturday morning waste of time
I'm not saying that you shouldn't watch the show, It's one of my favorite shows on teletoon, and In the morning if I'm just lying there, and hear the theme start up on the TV ill race to the living room and sit there for the half an hour and not move until it's over. It's hilarious, but very very naïve. I mean, Jude, who is by far my favorite character, is the stereotypical lazy, lethargic skateboarder, Caitlin: the ditzy blonde, Jen the athlete, Nikki the rebel, Wyatt the..... umm, well he's Wyatt. and Jonesy, the creep that hits on every cute girl he sees at the mall and cant hold down a job to save his life. I never even thought that I could stand to watch a show like that, but I watched it once and I got hooked, so I guess that I should really learn to not judge a book by it's cover.
Secret Window (2004)
oh my...
I am an extreme Johnny Depp fan, so when this movie came onto the shelves, even though it was a horror flick, (i scare easily) i didn't care, it had Johnny Depp so i rented it anyway. I found that it wasn't as scary as i thought it was gonna be, there were a few jumpy parts, and some really gross parts: screwdrivers through heads, dogs, etc... but i got through it! Anyway, it was a really good movie, i think that Johnny played his part well (then again, he plays all his parts well) and John Turturro was the perfect stalker. The only downside was that it ended eventually, and as soon as you saw him put on the black hat, it was obvious that it was really just his extremely angry split personality that was killing people. Other than the dead giveaway, i thought the movie was awesome... despite it's psychotic ending and twisted killing methods. But i'm afraid that not even Johnny Depp will get me to watch Psycho.
Sleepy Hollow (1999)
this movie is sooooooooooo cool
oh my god, i saw this movie at a friends party for the first time and the next day I was begging my parents to buy it!!! i have always loved johnny depp's acting (and spectacularly good looks) and this movie just made them both 210% better...one of my absolute favorite parts in the movie would have to have been the scene after he finally realizes that it IS a headless horseman killing off people and he is in his bed huddling in the corner and going completely insane. Most likely my favourite movie of all time... I especially like the tagline: Heads will roll :p haw deehaw deehaw..... If you like Johnny Depp as much as I do, and know the story is already good, then go see this
Edward Scissorhands (1990)
I LOVED this movie!
This movie is absolutely my fave! I am a huge fan of johnny depp, but this one is most likely one of his greatest film in my mind. I also enjoyed secret window, but it was a lil too creepy for my liking...anyway, If you like comedy, tragedy, and a bit of oddity thrown in for kicks, then this is the movie for u!
I thought it was quite a refreshment from all the usual war/romance flicks. And although i was very young when it came out, I can still enjoy it, with or without all the hightech animation and fight scenes that we have today!
