Dubai Bling (2022)
It's a joke
I'm all for trashy TV. But this was just trash. I give props for effort but this was just brain dead content. Why are you making it seem like Dubai is the land of these kind of people?
Its great background noise, but not worth your brain cells. Cast should feel embarrassed, waste of creative space.
I'll admit, I watched it all, hoping to find some essence, but unfortunately, time I will never get back.
Much better shows out there, don't give this two mins of your time, it might encourage them to make more garbage.
I learned one thing though, I'm glad I'm average and not caught up in a terrible lifestyle like theirs. I guess there was a message after all.
Awake: The Million Dollar Game (2019)
It's messy
The show basically just starts off with barely any context or contestant background. You feel very disconnected with the challenges and people because you don't really know anything about them, there aren't really any stakes to feel like you should be rooting for anybody.
It also felt slightly rushed and honestly, it's mostly a gamble especially at the final rounds. Extremely difficult for contestant to win the million dollars. I actually thought they already win it when they are the last one standing but that wasn't the case.
There is just too much of a disconnection with the show that it isn't captivating enough for you to feel any excitement towards the competition. I really wasted my time. I wouldn't want you to do the same.
From A to B (2014)
Just one word... Cliché.
I will give two stars for effort.
The movie is cliché, its not new. Maybe its a new way of making "Arab" films, but the film itself is not new. Minus extreme sexual innuendos, remove the English language and you get A to B. A hard try to create an Emirati image in the Arab cinema, but blatantly struggles to be original.
The only Emirati film I can fully recognize as a well thought and properly executed attempt was "Zinzana" (Rattle the Cage) by Majid Al Ansari.
As an Emirati myself, I feel we should just make films for the sake of making them but for the sake of innovation.
Its a sad attempt for Ali F. Mostafa, but my respects still for making a movie at all.
Hats off to effort.
But I'd like my money back.
