Three Amigos! (1986)

We are the 3 Ah-haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaMigos!

Love it. Love it. Love it. This movie is jam-packed with hilarity. The story is good for an 80s comedy as well. Chase, Martin and Short are a power house as the 3 Amigos. And El Guapo has so many good lines I'm laughing just thinking about them, "Do you even know what a plethora is???" Every time I hear that word I think of him, which is pretty sad I guess. The scene with Dusty Bottoms (Chase), singing at the celebrations as if he has a frog in his throat makes me laugh every time, My little buttercup scene in the tavern with Ned (Short) with the hankerchief on his head, the calls they have to make to summon the invisible swordsman, the part in the desert..."lip balm?" I'm embarrassed to say how many times I have seen this movie, I'm just going to say a lot...and would recommend to everyone!

Coffee, Tea, ME?
2 November 2004
I LOVE this movie. It has an all-star cast, screams 80s style, and has the best make-over ever! It is perfect for a "girls night" movie and would recommend it highly! "Let the River Run" by Carly Simon still gives me chills when I hear it when I think of Tess McGill (Griffith) climbing the corporate ladder. It isn't just that, she improves her whole life, including getting rid of her cheating boyfriend (Alec Baldwin!). Joan Cusack is hilarious as always with a few lines that make me laugh every time..."coffee, tea....ME?". Sigourney Weaver is good as the "bad guy", and Harrison Ford fits the role of manly eye candy rather than good acting. (The part where he changes his shirt in the office, ladies??) The movie is the epitome of 80s corporate America/feminist thinking, but more importantly is a feel good movie with, not to mention it again...the best make-over ever!

"WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!"
2 November 2004
My whole family from young to old have LOVED this movie. It is always a tradition in our household to watch 29th street at Christmas time, although it can be watched at any time of year. I just love it when people tell me they haven't seen this movie, and I get to show it to them...because it has the best ending ever! Just thinking about it now, gives me goosebumps. It is one of the best "feel good" endings I have ever seen. Don't worry I won't say what happens! Danny Aiello is wonderful as the father who is cursed with bad luck and Anthony LaPaglia is the best I've ever seen him as the son who is cursed with good luck. Some scenes are hilarious and others will break your heart. Just writing this out makes me want to watch it, and I just think I might!

What is not to love??
1 November 2004
This has got to be one of my favourite 80s movies of all time. Which is saying something. The characters are great, you've got Elisabeth Shue singing the blues, Penelope Ann Miller and Anthony Rapp with their funny lines and characters, Vincent D'Onofrio as Thor, handsome john pruitt with a hook for a hand, and not to mention Bradley Whitford as the always dirty scoundrel. This movie has hijinks at its best. And probably my favourite beginning of a movie ever with Chris Parker(Shue)singing and dancing to "and then he kissed me". Shue is so good, although hardly passes for 17...but hey what high school 80s movie actually casted teenagers?? Regardless, I've seen it way too many times, and would recommend it to everyone!

data analyzing robot youth lifeform!

I watched this movie as a child and loved it and now I enjoy it for nostalgia reasons. Barret Oliver plays the perfect robot child, and "turtle" his best friend play a great character also. I always enjoyed watching all the perks of D.A.R.Y.L being a robot. Everything from changing the balance of his father's bank account to being a computer game whiz. It has such an uplifting ending, and I always get teary eyed when...(well I won't give away the ending)...but its a heartwarming ending. Michael McKean plays the foster father which now being older and seeing him in "This is Spinal Tap", is hilarious seeing him act as the sensitive father/husband. I would recommend kids that saw this when they were younger to rewatch this 80s classic, but perhaps adults that are looking for a good movie on a Saturday night to skip this one.

Whesley, what happened??
1 November 2004
I am not a huge fan of the horror/thriller movie genre. I do appreciate smart, thrillers such as se7en, and was pleasantly surprised when it was the same type of movie. EXCEPT that the acting is so incredibly terrible that you will laugh out loud. Carey Elwes what happened?? I was almost embarrassed at times for him, he was so bad. His powdery made up face did not help matters. The other actors in it, were just as awful. PLUS SIDE: I love a good twist and hate when I can guess an ending, although some might find the ending stupid, I honestly did not guess it..which makes it worth a watch for me. So definitely a wannabe- se7en, and not nearly as good, but if you want a good twist and laugh out loud acting then this movie is for you.
