Gravity (2013)
The Most Visually Stunning Movie Ever !
I just saw Gravity in my local cinema and I am honestly blown away. From the visual effects to the brilliant directing Gravity is brilliant. The plot is Sandra Bullock and George Clooney are astronauts who are fixing a satellite in space. Then a Russian Satellite is destroyed and it causes some problems and we have our movie. My favourite thing about this movie is the directing. Alfonso Cuaron take a bow. The effects also power home, This movie should definitely should win best effects and Best Director. Another Great thing is that Sandra Bullock puts in the performance of her career as Ryan Stone. Every scene feels real that she is an astronaut left stranded. George Clooney is also great as Kowalski but not as good as Bullock. Overall Gravity is a brilliant film with phenomenal effects and Directing I recommend it to everybody.
Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010)
One Of The Greatest Games Ever
I have just finished playing Call Of Duty: Black Ops on my XBOX 360 and I am simply blown away. With two or three other games this is one of the greats. The Graphics are also simply amazing. Let's start off on the campaign, Great story, Great action and since it's a Call Of Duty game that Treyarch made there's going to be two things: Swearing and Gory Violence. Treyarch's run of Call Of Duty games (Call of Duty World at War, Call of Duty Black Ops and Call of Duty Black Ops 2) all have those things in. There are some shock moments in Black Ops like an ill-fated game of Russian Roulette, an eye gouging, lots of slit throats, a scene showing Nova 6 destroying Russian soldiers, a violent Battle of Kne San, a grenade stuck onto a Viet Cong Soldier and last but not least the guns. There are loads of guns to chose from in Black Ops. Like M16's and Ak-47's and there are even ways to spice up the multi-player after the not so good Modern Warfare 2's Multiplayer, with chopper gunners and gunships. Overall this is the best Call of Duty to date (just beating Call of Duty 4) and has redeemed Call of Duty after the not so good Modern Warfare 2, the God-Awful Modern Warfare 3 and the OK Black Ops 2,this is the golden boy. So if you want entertainment from a gory first person shooter that is fun to play and overall brilliance flowing from it get Call of Duty Black Ops.
Hot Fuzz (2007)
Hilarious, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost do it again!
Hot Fuzz is many things, Cop Caper, Dark Comedy, British Action Film and the guys turn it into one of the funniest movies ever. Hot Fuzz is about a police-officer, Sergeant Nicholas Angel, a top London cop, who is so good he makes all the other policemen look bad He is subsequently transferred to the lovely village of Sandford, where everything is as it seems, or so he thought... Hot Fuzz is full of hilarious jokes and impeccably timed gags . Also, great performances from the two main characters (Simon Pegg as Sergeant Nicholas Angel and Nick Frost as PC Danny Butterman) If anything could top Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz certainly can. The cameos are also fantastic (Timothy Dalton leads from the front with the laugh out loud Simon Skinner) and it leads up to lots of unexpected twists in the story until you reach the films climatic scenes. The way Hot Fuzz can spoof and pay homage to other movies without completely ruining it is incredible and it can also can show scenes of graphic violence in a comic light-hearted way, just like Shaun Of The Dead. So if you want to top off Shaun Of The Dead, watch Hot Fuzz and be ready to laugh until your sides hurt.
Memento (2000)
One of the most incredible films ever made
This film is honestly one of the greatest ever to come out of a film studio . The film Memento is mind-bending, keeping the viewer on the edge of their seats until the credits and another star quality that Memento has is that it can lead the viewer through plot twist after plot twist and still keep the viewer entertained until the last moments. Memento is about Leonard Shelby and thats pretty much all you'll ever know for definite about it. Yes that's how confusing it is until the very last, dying moments of the film. The script is great ( again the genius of Christopher and Jonathan Nolan ), the cast delivers on every aspect , Guy Pearce was brilliant as Leonard , Carrie Ann Moss also was very good as Trinity but the best performance of the film and one of the greatest performances in film history, Joe Pantoliano as Teddy Gammell. I was surprised that Memento was only nominated for two academy awards because I can tell you it was worth more. Overall, Memento is like a complex jigsaw puzzle that you can try to solve but just can't and it just leads up to an incredible twist ending that no one ( not even me ) could figure out . So if you haven't seen Memento you really don't know what your missing!
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Honestly Incredible
This film is brilliant, just brilliant. I watched this film expecting just a normal movie but when it ended I knew it would stay with me forever. Every decade has one or two groundbreaking movies, the 70's had The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, the 80's had Platoon and Raging Bull the 90's had The Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction and the 2000's had Gladiator and The Lord Of The Rings. There were a lot of good films in the 90's and this is up there with the best . The story is about a man called Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) who is wrongly convicted and sent to the Shawshank Prison. When there he meets Red (Morgan Freeman) and then the story takes off. The acting is incredible and Freeman and Robbins deliver the performances of their career, the script is incredible (another great collaboration between Steven King and Frank Darabont) and it didn't win one single Oscar! This could have been good enough for three Oscars at the least, true, the competition (Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction) were good films but, The Shawshank was certainly good enough to win a couple.
So if you haven't seen The Shawshank Redemption, buy it, rent it and watch one of the most powerful and moving films ever, be prepared to be blown away.
Gladiator (2000)
Gladiator ..... Simply the best
Gladiator...... Simply The Best Gladiator has everything that a good film needs and puts it together to make a masterpiece The acting is incredible ,the screenplay is great ,the set decoration , the costumes everything. I am not going to ruin it for you because the story is brilliant and yet another masterpiece from Ridley Scott . The actors also hammer home with great performances -Russell Crowe as Maximus , Joaquim Phoenix as Commodus , Connie Nielsen as Lucilla , Oliver Reed as Proximo , Djimon Hounsou as Juba and many more.... The battle scenes are also mind-blowing (the first scene is comparable to the opening battle of Saving Private Ryan ,and not many films can say that) the swordplay is brilliant.
So if you have not seen Gladiator watch and be amazed.
