Blade: Trinity (2004)
It's Hot!
In this installment of the Blade series - it's all out action and a must see. Right from the opening scene to the end there is hardly a dull moment. I loved Blade 2 but this one is just Super Hot. Snipes, Reynolds and Biel are all excellent. Reynolds is particularly refreshing with is one-liners and quips which is his talent. As much as I love Colin Farrell, I don't think he would have been as funny as Reynolds and btw - when did Reynolds grow up and get so friggin' hot???!!! I hope he keeps the 25 pounds of muscle he gained for the movie and we see him in more movies. I hope the series continues as Blade is just a fun series. If they keep making them - I'll keep seeing them. Gonna buy this the day it comes out to complete the set.

I've seen better fight scenes in a Jackie Chan movie.
While not a Quentin Tarantino fan, I was looking forward to seeing this film. However, unfortunately the trailer was the best part of it. The special effects were horrible and obvious. I've seen better fight scenes in Jackie Chan's movies. The story was epic and twisting and may be difficult to follow for some. The subtitles do not match the English voice overs and therefore were distracting. So either use the subtitles and do not turn on the English voice-over, or turn off the subtitles if you want the English. However, Tarantino's use of colors was interesting and the cinematography was beautiful and artful. For that alone this film was worth seeing.
Monster (2003)
For once the Academy got it right!
For once the Oscar went to the most deserving. I was not sure I wanted to see this movie, but after seeing a trailer I became curious and decided to check it out. Charlize Theron completely blew me away! She is barely recognizable and seems to be channeling Wuornos at some points. Patty Jenkins is to be highly complimented on her writing and directing skills also. Rarely have I been so moved by a film but this one simply cuts to the core and leaves you raw. Wuornos was obviously not well, yet Jenkins provides insightful monologues that allowed me to understand and sympathize for Wuornos. It is a sad and moving movie. Never have I felt so disturbed yet riveted by a movie such as this one.
