Sally Hemings: An American Scandal (2000)
Great Movie
I was recently doing research on interracial relationships for my history class. I came across this movie, boy am I glad. Although I am happy the writer of the movie was black, I felt some other issues could've been addressed. As far as Thomas Jefferson having children with Sally Hemings is not far from my mind, seeing he would've been like almost every other slave owner in those days. The relationship between Sally Hemings and Thomas Jefferson is shown as a loving one in this movie. Which I have always felt was very far from the truth, there's no evidence that this relationship was anything more than another slave/master relationship. I did wish that they would've shown one of her children being black, considering 2 or 3 of her children could actually pass for white. Besides those things the movie was great, I loved Sam Neil as Thomas Jefferson, he really out did himself in this movie.
The Fog (2005)
alright
I saw this movie the day it was released thinking it would be a good movie. The movie was rated Pg-13 and since I was babysitting a 10 year old cousin who loves horror movies, I thought I could burn some time by watching a flick. The movie was confusing, and in a lot of ways dull. I hated the token black guy, why couldn't the fog get into the freezer? doesn't fog usually come in cold weather? Another thing is why did the fog kill innocent people? like the two girls on the boat? I left the movie with a billion questions about what was going on. The most confusing part, was when the movie went back into the past to see the Elizabeth Dane boat, and then it was in the present? which left me wondering if the people on the Elizabeth Dane were originally ghost? another concern is the ending, the main female character is actually a reincarnated wife? that part must've been added in to add more time to the movie. Overall it was confusing. Don't expect a scare from this. My 10 year cousin laughed almost every five second.
Twisted Desire (1996)
GOOD/INTERESTING
I recently saw the movie on Lifetime. I was watching T.V. the plot seemed interesting so I started to watch it. The movie was okay, Though there were still some questions not answered, towards the end in the boys car (movie spoiler sorry) you kind of knew what was going to happen. I felt really sorry for the guy she had dated, he was deceived even though he pulled the trigger.
Towards the end I found out it was based on a true story, Jennifer should be out by now because the movie was made in 96', it said she'd be out by 21 so she's probably 26 by now. I do wish she would've gotten a longer sentence, if she killed once she'll kill again.
