This liberal loved it
21 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I consider myself fairly on the left on the political spectrum - left of center on most things, including social issues (there are exceptions). I support LGBT rights, but the "T" part has always made me uncomfortable and baffled. While watching this movie, I stopped and did my own research on many topics or issues just to get a better understanding on the content and context. The swimming or sports issue, or the bathroom issue or the question of "at what age", are all both complex and simple at the same time. Now to the question of "what is a woman?", I think anybody living outside the western countries of USA, Canada, European countries, NZ and Australia, will have no such difficulties in answering that question. This movie shows that the gender politics have gone too far in the west, in the name of acceptance and liberalism. There definitely is an over-correction in all kinds of gender politics, and the Trans issue is just one of them. Again, as a self proclaimed atheist liberal from India, who follows US politics and cultural issues/ debates closely, I didn't expect to like this movie, but I did end up loving it. Not a fan of Matt Walsh or even Daily Wire, despite me watching DW and Ben Shapiro consistently, but this movie was fair, even though it was being a bit preachy.

Nothing like the western classics
17 March 2022
This ones a slow burner. Almost gave it up 3/4th into the movie, but it delivers. And deliver it did. The last fight scene is one of the best.

Nothing like the western classics !!!

Criminally underrated
9 October 2021
This movie is a big middle finger to all the right wing war hawks and MSM who just accept the official narratives on any given issue. The movie covered personal stories, ethnicity, religion, racism, manufacturing concent , lies of MSM and governments and how the people responsible for these wars will never face any real charges. All lies in the mask of national security.

At 7.3 , this movie is criminally underrated imo despite all its issues it has.

A drag and a miss by Zack Snyder
18 July 2021
It took my entire Sunday to complete this behemoth. I watched the 3 hr 35 min of the Ultimate Cut version and in hindsight I regret it. I dont read comics, but I have loved comic book based movies in the past, but this one was confusing, all over the place, and too slow and dragging. It tries to have too many major characters in a single story, and a weak story imo.

The aesthetics and graphics reminded me of the TV Show Gotham, but made in much worse possible way.

A great sequal.

Not quite part 1, but a really good sequel to the 1st part. Its refreshing to see horror going mainstream occasionally.

The 'real' Pirates of the Caribbean before 'The Pirates of the Caribbean'
26 June 2021
Great 90s action movie with a great female lead. Very 90s feel to it with pirate groups battling each other. Its a great 1 time watch. The acting occasionally was bad, but for the most part, the movie kicks ass in everything, despite a mostly predictable story.

The 60s Shawshank Redemption, almost
20 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Great 60s movie with a few issues IMO

1. Too similar to The Shawshank Redemption. Of course TSR was made some 30 years after this movie, but cant ignore the similarities

2. Luke was arrested in a major prison for a petty crime which is inhumane imo.

3. How is it that each time he tries to escape, he never succeeds, and each time the movie doesnt really show how they got to him.

But ignore these few issues, its a great movie about non conformism and hope. And even as an atheist, I could appreciate the Christian references in the movie including the songs. Songs that have connection with Johnny Cash and Guns n Roses.

Great action movie

Great action movie with multiple themes of friendship, Hong Kong politics, Vietnam war in the background. I want to watch more John Woo movies.

Worst of Hollywood
1 June 2021
I really don't understand how anybody who has watched this movie ended up giving more than 1 star. No proper story, no real sequence of events. Bad acting. Everything bad. Couldn't even get myself to finish it. Save your time and skip this .

M. Night Shyamalan , sit down and take notes on how to do a twist.
30 May 2021
First of all, how a big Hollywood movie like this was made in the middle of WW2 is fascinating. Secondly, great funny moments, but its the last minute twist that is crazy beyond words !

If it wasnt for the boy, I would give this 1 star. Absolute garbage. No real concrete story. Has worst of jumpscares and horrible sound all throughout the movie.

Hits you in the feels...

Rarely has a movie made me tear up. The last movie that did that to me was the Bollywood movie Taare Zameen Par, which has a few similar themes to FW. Hillary Swank is very believable as the loving white teacher in a black majority school. The movie also kind of addresses the drawbacks of the existing education system. Being a pessimist myself, the movie tries to drive a lesson in optimism even in the most dire times. Add the Holocaust history tours, Freedom Writers is a great movie with lots of memorable moments and talking points.

Low quality teen drama
8 May 2020
I couldnt even finish the 1st episode of the 1st season. Not sure, how they got to make the 2nd season. This is rehashing of previous generations' Teen High school TV Dramas, only with richer and more pretentious kids. How did Sumeet Vyas get himself into this? How this show has 7.8 rating is beyond me !

Waste of time
13 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This is my first review on IMDb and I hope to do justice to myself. The movie is basically set in Hollywood, California where a guy has 2 girlfriends who are both sisters. He has a baby with one and one day plans o go a vacation with the other sis, but in a bizarre turn of events all of them are killed at different time-lines of the movie by a masked torturer. There really isn't a convincing storyline here and the movie really is funny and parody at times on some of the other serious well made torture movies made. The movie has lot of illogical moments and makes you want to question the director in every scene. The movie is filled with gore and blood with human body parts thrown around in the torturer's basement. For a 2013 movie, this is really bad. Other than the graphics of gore, everything else is boring. For a horror movie it only scares you in few seconds in the first few minutes, and the rest of the movie is just going to test your patience. The writer lacks creativity and also the low budget is visible all around. Dear horror genre connoisseurs - Stay away.
