Tully (2018)
Why, for God sakes....
I'll admit, I turned it off after the first autistic meltdown. The annoying musical score didn't help. Other reviews crack on the husband for being away doing his job providing for the family? ...and Why even loosely consider a 3rd child when child #2 is a full-time job with overtime.
The Expanse (2015)
"F" Bombs in Space
I love this show. It's smart. It has unfortunately lost about a dozen IQ points feeling the necessity to start an inter-galatic F-Word contest that includes the UN Secretary General leading this foul mouthed parade. The story and the acting remain top notch. Special effects continue to improve. Get the writing act together, and get me back up to a 10. All the F bombs are just lazy.
68 Whiskey (2020)
Sorry attempt at M*A*S*H
Gave this very poorly written show about 45 minutes until i just shut it off. Seems like an attempt at a M*A*S*H reboot, but with gutter-level "humor", implausible situations, and unlikable characters. I'll not be sticking around for episode 2. Cone on Ron Howard.
How the Universe Works (2010)
How the Scientists Bloviate
I tuned into this show because of Mike Row, and an interest in space and our universe. I now hit MUTE everytime they cut to one of these scientists all speaking in the same patronizing smartest-person-in-the-room tone with an endlessly annoying supply astrophysics for dummies analogies and metaphors. Beyond that, this program would be better served letting Mike Rowe's narration suffice, along with the excellent graphics.
Mars (2016)
Why did they name it Mars?
Why am I being bombarded by arctic oil drilling, global warming, endless science professor lecture-speak? It's a good story, with good writing, and exceptional performances--until I have to look Neil Degrasse, and Siberia guy, and Musk. Whoever made that decision ruined this show.
The First (2018)
I tried, I really did
There's a reason productions go straight to Hulu--at least it wasn't Crackle. I honestly don't give a rip about the private lives of astronauts. Maybe a scene here or there, but sending the "first crewed mission to Mars" as advertised was at best a weak sub-plot. I'm guessing the special effects budget was limited? I got about half way through the series before I had find better ways of budgeting my time.
