Emily in Paris (2020)
Everyone's a critic
This show is about escapism. It's not supposed to be realistic. It's a comedic fantasy and that's how you're supposed to perceive it. The fashion is daring and colorful and it doesn't make sense for some people but it adds to the element of fantasy of the show. They're not dressed like real people because they aren't meant to be. The stereotypes are stretched for the same comedic effect. It's a cultural melange and it shows how different cultures can clash but also how we're not all that different from each other.
It's supposed to be funny, bubbly, beautiful scenery escapism. The plot needs to be dramatic enough and entertaining enough to make sense, but it doesn't need more than that. French actors are outshining everyone else by a mile, except for the blonde girl who's not good at all.
Enjoy this show as you would a french dessert. Bon appétit.
