Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
filled w/ idle moments
How to expand a 2.5-hr movie to 4 hrs? Just fill with background moments that everyone already know about, emotional moments that feel no emotion, and prolonged dialogs that make no impact.
The original 2017 movie has superb flow of storyline and great humor. This one tells the same story, but with tons of yawn-inducing moments. It's like Thor in a fat suit.
Transformers: War for Cybertron (2020)
depression inducing
This has to be the saddest Transformers series ever. While Megatron is very resourceful, Optimus has no strategy, no communication skill, and no facial expression (like Jon Snow). Both Megatron & Optimus talks w/ super slow speed and depressing low voice.
The plot is mostly 2 hours of autobots getting beaten up over and overir again. Their final plan succeeded only because Omega Supreme appeared at the last minute to help them.
To avoid getting so depressed, it may help to just watch the 1 min recap at beginning of shows #1-5, then entire #6.
The Tick (2016)
Perfect TV show
This is actually the best TV series I've come across. The whole story line is tightly knit and logical, with everything coming together in the end. Every character is full of personality, even the boat. The jokes are sparse, but super funny. I look forward to the next season.
Star Trek: Discovery: Will You Take My Hand? (2018)
No sense of urgency
The series sets up to a grand finale,in which entire species may be exterminated. And yet these people just wander around "well in principle, Star Fleet should be doing this, not that"... No one even question if the plan may not work. This episode is a very pitiful ending to an otherwise great series.
Bakemono no ko (2015)
bad ending spoils all
The movies starts out with a very emotional story, and creates a magical animal world where they are equal to humans. The story could have ended perfectly with everyone working together to kill the evil. But instead, we got a very strange ending that reveals the author still believe that animals will always sacrifice themselves for humans. To help illustrate the point, we have to flip around the role of the people and the animals: 2 people fought a Kungfu match. The loser's dog is consumed by evil, and tries to kill the winner and his dog. The winner decides to die and turn into a sword to occupy his dog's heart. His dog wins the fight, then decides to go to school.
The Nice Guys (2016)
who's the real mastermind?
Kim Basinger plays Amelia's mother, and the character bothers me a lot. She was not at all saddened by her daughter's death. I'm not sure if that was intentional, or just due to Botox. If she ordered to kill her daughter, then why did she even hire the 2 misfit detectives to protect the daughter and possibly mess up her plan? On the other hand, if the GM CEO was the real mastermind, that would mean he hired the the hit-man. Then why would his bodyguards fight against the hit-man? And why would the mother continue to partner with the CEO despite killing of her daughter? Because the issue is the center plot of the movie, not having it resolved leaves us with just 3 people running around and risking their lives for no reason, and therefore a resulting mediocre movie.
