Rajkumar & Adarsh Gourav elevate the show
19 August 2023
Without the star cast I doubt I would've persevered beyond 2-3 eps. Rajkumar Rao & Adarsh Gourav are absolutely fantastic in their roles. There is a lot of good stuff and interesting threads. The world building is solid. However,at an emotional level you rarely feel invested in the characters. Other than Jugnu,Tipu & the three kids the show lacks soul that it tries to compensate for with style. Atmaram is another run-of-the-mill 'weirdo' character whose motives and origins remain a mystery but his presence is supposed to drive terror in us. The performances are mostly very, very good(special mention for the kid who plays Gangu) but there is little by way of plot to be stretched to 7,45 min. Eps. A faster narrative would've been a delight.

A decent watch nonetheless.

Kapil Sharma: I'm Not Done Yet (2022 TV Special)
6/10
A sanitized attempt at being 'edgy'
3 February 2022
Kapil Sharma is a household name in India and even outside. His brand of comedy is an industry in itself and people love him."I'm not Done yet" is touted as the more risque Kapil Sharma, being able to say things he can't say on national TV. However,he doesn't want to break out of his super popular show's mould. He's not going all in here and that's definitely disappointing. Thus, this ends up being a good boy trying to say some bad things and being 'funny'. He doesn't want to hurt his image. It makes sense too since neither is Kapil hanging his boots nor is his show losing popularity. I feel if the timing of this Netflix special was better, this could've been a great show.

Pretty average at the end of the day and doesn't really deliver what it promises.

Idhar Udhar (1985–1998)
10/10
Absurdist comedy with fine performances
3 January 2022
"Idhar Udhar" seems like a show that had to suffer from many creative issues behind the scenes. Starring Ratna(Sunita) & Supriya Pathak(Poonam) as tenants of Mrs. Briganza, the show starts with the two being left alone to take care of a large flat for a few weeks/months. The two conjure up a scheme to reduce their workload and call up on a new tenant by means of an ad in the newspaper. The idea is to reduce their workload & also pocket some money in the process,as rent. This leads to various situations and events that lead to comedy.

The show is very up & down in it's writing. The dialogues are excellent but the screenplay is chaotic. This doesn't seem to be so by design. Ratna & Supriya do fantastic work here and their performances do the heavylifting. Ravi Baswani & Lilliput are also great as the supporting cast, getting a few eps of their own to shine. It seems that the makers were unsure of the characters they wanted to have on-board and tried to play around with the combinations to see what gets a better viewership. Sunita & Poonam are absent from a few eps but probably the ratings dropped & they had to be brought back. Then it's back to the duo, while Ravi Baswani gets an exit. To it's credit, the show's dialogues are quiet agnostic to it's time period..there is very little mention of contemporary occurences. Thus, barring the telephone and fashion there is very little here to classify this as an "80s show" or even a retro show. Apart from the occasional slapstick with people slipping and colliding with things or just something falling here and there, the jokes are surprisingly fresh and stand the test of time.

Ratna & Supriya's comic timing and their utter sincerity in every scene is a joy to behold. Inspite of the erratic creation, their dedication to the project is clearly evident. Like I said, all other actors are also very sincere. The show could've been an all-timer if not for the dullness of a few eps towards the end of S1. Ep 4 is the absolute highlight and one wishes they could've replicated the quality in later episodes.

The One (I) (2021)
6/10
Mish-mash of genres
28 March 2021
"The One" has a very interesting idea at it's centre. The issue is that the writers veer towards office politics, drama & glossy storylines more to make this people pleasing. Unfortunately,it doesn't work as well. The premise is simple. There is a blockbuster app based on some random scientific concept where the best partner for every person is chosen through a DNA sample. We get glimpses of what this is doing to the prevailing society. People in secure relationships are getting insecure, people married since many years leaving their husbands just coz they are not "The One" and so on. However, this aspect is very briefly touched upon & the show loves to get back to "office games". There are many love tracks which fall flat because they never make us emotionally invested. All characters are decent on paper, but it's the confusion of genres that lends nothing to their personalities. Is this science fiction? Is this suspense? Is this drama? Is this a typical "massy" series? Is this bordering on dark humour? What is more annoying is that the last line of the finale, sets the show for a new season. This seems unearned because we have basically been cheated with a concrete ending.

In the end, this is good for a passive watch. The acting performances are pretty average & characters are borderline forgettable.

Binge worthy!
24 February 2021
This is a short series which can be easily finished on a non-working day.A lot of 'action' is back ended but the show is really rewarding for the attentive viewer. It starts slow but ends with more than a bang. The performances are fantastic.Eve Hewson was the standout performer for me.The show also has one of the best soundtracks I have heard in a show.

Hope the show gains more traction and we are able to get another season.

A Teacher (2020)
5/10
Shoddy writing
2 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The finale derailed the whole show for me. Uptil the last episode "A Teacher" is simply about a misunderstood romance between a teacher and student. How the society chastises two individuals, mainly the woman involved for a "crime",when there was none. As wrong as it sounds, the show through dialogues and small little moments makes it amply clear that Claire and Eric truly love each other. They both confess it to each other regularly. Claire is literally "glowing". So much so that it prompts one of her friends to ask about the secret behind this "glow". This is where Claire's life goes into the bin. However, inspite of being exposed and with the police on her tail Claire still decides to run away with Eric on HIS urge. Note that it's Eric(now 18) who asks her to do so. Does this even remotely sound "abusive"? In fact, throughout all the scenes between Eric and Claire there is not even a hint of controlling behaviour from Claire. But after the finale,we are suddenly supposed to believe that Claire was the abuser and Eric the poor abused. The creators even show us how terrible life becomes for Claire. And it's not so for Eric at all who is considered a demi-god by his "dudes" at university. Due to strictly legal reasons,Claire can't meet Eric anymore. She still risks it after she's released from prison and meets Eric one last time. Definitely,Eric goes through a heartbreak after this but it seems nothing that he can't overcome. We see a character played by Grace Gummer who is going through the same and she hits it off with Eric for a short period(what happened there?) Eric is so madly in love with Claire that he can't get involved emotionally with any girl at his uni anymore. He's not doing so because he was abused or violated. He's just too heartbroken. Otherwise, why would he want to meet Claire immediately after she's released? To put on an arbitrary abuser angle all of a sudden in a perfectly healthy relationship was a very strange decision on the behalf of the writers. It seems that the writers wanted to squeeze some sort of "socially responsible" message in the show and retconned everything to make it work. But the show crashed with that decision, leaving the viewers feel cheated.

Kate Mara was fantastic in the show though and I hope to see her more often.

The Undoing (2020)
7/10
Bittersweet experience
3 December 2020
"The Undoing" starts out very well.It places the chess pieces calculatingly, uses a lot of wide angles and close ups to up the tension and maintains a sense of intrigue. However, things start to fall off in the second half of the season. It seems a 45-50 minute runtime was a bit too long for the tension to survive.Inspite of a lot of things going for it,the tension fizzles out due to some poor writing.Grace Fraser, played by Nicole Kidman comes off as a very confused woman who really doesn't know what she wants right uptil the end. This is not her 'trauma' or 'stress' getting the better of her but she just seems like a weak person overall. On the other hand,Franklin Reinhardt, played by Donald Sutherland is an interesting character that is not explored well enough.Same for Sylvia, etc. In the end,the show was nothing more than a weak "whoddunit".If I judge it as a 'psychological thriller' then also it falls well short of it's promise. It is disappointing because all the ingredients are there. The direction is good, the performances of almost all actors is very good, the music is decent and the show doesn't seem to have been constrained by resources but the writing lets the show down. All in all,it ends up being little better than an average show.

Run (I) (2020)
10/10
Fantastic!
2 December 2020
"Run" grabbed me like very few movies have been able to in recent times. The movie tells the tale of a loving mother who takes care of her physically handicapped, but extremely smart child. She's old enough to go to college now.She knows her science and is fiercely independent. What the creative team manages to achieve with this premise is absolutely fantastic. They manage to create suspense out of such little moments. There is great build-up,stakes are raised and then the payoff. The brilliant performances help a lot too.Kiera Allen knocks it out of the park.

While one can nitpick about few details,at the end of the day the movie is an exhilarating watch and all is forgiven from my side. This would've been an awesome watch in a theater

A Teacher (2020)
5/10
Pretty decent so far
14 November 2020
I started watching this show recently with a high note of caution, given the preceding comments and reviews all over the Internet. The imdb description too calls the relationship a "predatory" one. From what we know so far about the characters, neither Eric nor Claire fit this definition.Claire is an English teacher who has just moved to a new school. She's very attractive and the "seniors" immediately take a liking to her.Eric is a student in her class and through repeated "coincidences",Claire and Erik keep running into each other.I think this part could've been chalked out better.Overall,I feel the show is a bit handicapped by it's short run-time.The complexities of each character could've been better explored in a 40-45 minute/episode show.

Kate Mara and Nick Robinson are both great in their roles. Will continue watching this.

Disappointing
31 July 2020
Shakuntala Devi is an iconic woman in India and arguably,in the international realm too.She was a very strong personality and most famously had batted for LGBT rights way back in the 1970s.She was very vocal and upfront about her opinions. Thus,I expected atleast a part of this persona to be conveyed in the Amazon movie.Vidya Balan as the lead was an added bonus. However, not only does the movie dilute the central character to the extent that she becomes cartoon-ish but it also fails to present a coherent narrative. It's mildly infuriating to see the kind of disservice the movie does to the real Shakuntala Devi.Vidya Balan seems to be stuck in the "Tumhari Sulu" world of a bubbly, cheerful middle aged woman who is always 'very happy'.The makers have tried to marry the Tumhari Sulu character with some elements of western musicals and it's just...odd! The other actors are decent in their roles. However, the weak writing and the overall disconnect of the movie's Shakuntala Devi with the real one pull it down.

The movie is an avoid unless you are a huge Vidya Balan fan.

Obsession (1976)
7/10
Decent,early De Palma
2 June 2020
This is a bit 'out there' kinda movie.Of course, what else would you expect from a De Palma film. For the most part,"Obsession" is the character study of a man who holds himself responsible for a tragedy that has haunted him ever since. We don't see him in the interim though. We meet him after a considerable span of 17 years.Michael Courtland, our protagonist is a real estate developer, who runs an enterprise with his partner & friend,Robert LaSalle. He is "reech" & doesn't seem to care much about his business. There are a lot of plot points here, that on closer scrutiny will seem ludicrous. At the same time,it will completely deprive the movie of it's entertainment value.I don't think this movie should be analysed with a microscope, especially it's labyrinthine plot. While the similarities with "Vertigo" are obvious,"Obsession" is a far less serious and arguably, more compassionate movie. It's actually not even about obsession.Michael is just too buried in guilt to be obsessed,he just wants another chance to right his wrong. He is deluded as well, but obsessed would be the wrong word.

Robertson,Bujold & Lithgow are pretty good in their parts. The movie is pretty un-subtle,so it demands a certain loudness in the acting department too.On a side note, the movie has one of the most hilarious marriage initiations:

"You reech?"

*nods his head in yes*

"You gangster?"

*nods his head in no*

and that's it.

The climax left me a bit unsatisfied.Barring that, this was a pretty decent flick.

The Hunt (2012)
10/10
Brilliant,riveting cinema!
30 May 2020
Bordering on horror,"The Hunt" is a relentless gut punch of a movie.Lucas is a normal, happy dude who lives a good life in his village. He has many friends & works as a kindergarten teacher(a job he recently started) He is separated from his wife & is father to a son,Marcus.Presently,he lives with his dog,Fanny but has an active social life. The movie takes good care to put all the characters & their relationships in place. Thus, when things go bad for Lucas it is all the more heartbreaking to see where the stones & punches are coming from.

While it is easy to take the 'wrongly accused' angle with "The Hunt",I feel the movie is making a larger point. It lays some decent emphasis on 'doubt'.That nasty emotion that just dilutes all relationships.Once doubt makes a home,it becomes impossible for you to see straight. It's a cataract on your sight,on your thoughts & even your heart.Mads Mikkelsen is absolutely fantastic as Lucas. He conveys a lot with minimum dialogue. There is one scene that stands out & Mikkelsen just eats it up.It is cinema at it's finest."The Hunt" boasts of excellent performances from all it's cast though.

The way the movie is structured,it's hard to even hate the accuser. She's just too young to understand the gravity of her claims. The movie's climax again hints at how the past is never forgotten.Even if the justice system exonerates you, there will always be someone eager to act like a vigilante & mete out "justice" himself. Thus, once accused, the accused person's life will never be the same. You will always have to keep looking over your shoulder(thus the poster?)

The movie successfully manages to make us re-think a lot of things. What is justice? When is violence right? When or how should you believe someone over the other? Should you not take your kid's word too seriously? And so on.It is the greatness of the movie, that there are no concrete answers. It is worthy of having a long conversation about.

This was a great experience & some scenes still have me shook.

The Morning Show (I) (2019– )
10/10
Effin' fantastic!
24 April 2020
"The Morning Show" offers a rare two-sided perspective on harassment & misconduct at the workplace. I don't mean to dilute the show by saying that it's only about this problem. The show is able to address a wide variety of issues. What is consent? Does anyone working under a person of authority really have a personal agency? Are men victimized too? Why do people in the know keep quiet? Is looking down on any old guy-young girl relationship justified? I could go on."The Morning Show" never gets preachy in it's 10 episodes of almost 10 hour runtime. The writing is brilliant. All characters have personalities & feel like flesh & blood characters. The cinematography, the cross cuts, the direction & the performances of the entire ensemble are excellent to say the least. TMS is a very nuanced look into the happenings at almost all of our workplaces. It doesn't shove it's message down our throats. It doesn't turn away from opportunism. It just puts up a mirror for the corporate world.

Drop everything else & watch TMS asap if you haven't already.

Back with a bang
16 January 2020
The last episode before the break had left us with a cliffhanger. The next episode aired a few days back & the show is back on it's feet up & running.David is hospitalized & has a series of bizarre experiences. While Kristen & Ben try to track down a criminal.Much of the episode is based in just one hospital room. The makers seemed to have had fun with this idea, using the premise to include a lot of stunning imagery. The direction was top-notch! The episode plays out like a dream sequence with short callbacks to 'reality'.

There is no further mystery for now.A lot of questions from previous episodes were answered. Will be interesting to see where things go from here.

Mr. Robot: Hello, Elliot (2019)
Season 4, Episode 13
10/10
Great ending!
23 December 2019
Season 4 started with a bang & continued to progress upwards with forthcoming episodes.Barring the 10th episode, the whole season pretty much got unanimous praise. The episodes also got forums upon forums teeming with "theories" about the direction the show will take.Sam Esmail has stated on the record that he frequents a few of them, most notably the sub-reddit for the show. Thus,it's amazing that the team was able to pull off something different. It is commendable that inspite of all the hints dropped at us: the body language of the actors, the characters, their backstories.etc. the show still ended up surprising us.

The two-parter finale answered all questions in a fairly straightforward, but very Mr.-Robotesque fashion. And I never felt cheated through the finale.Carly Chaikin gave another stellar performance.Rami Malek was fantastic.I hope Carly,Portia,BD Wong & others go on to get great parts in other shows.

It's been a great ride with "Mr. Robot".We had our troughs but all is well that ends well.

16 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
While the last episode disappointed a lot of viewers, this episode more than made up for it.We start right where Ep. 9 ended.WR has managed to escape from FBI's clutches.Elliot makes it to the Washington Township to completely destroy WR.The conversation between Elliot & WR was excellent writing. While their belief systems seem similar, the subtleties set them completely apart.WR realises this & sets into motion a bizarre set of events. The following scenes had serious S2 vibes. We see what we see but are aware that something is off.BD Wong & Rami Malek were excellent in their parts.

The episode ends at the best possible moment.Everything is in place now for a knockout of a series finale.

Great episode!
13 December 2019
This episode had all the things I love about "Evil"..the atmosphere, the chemistry of the actors, the 'evil' threads, the off angle shots & an introspective arc for some characters. The central 'mystery' of this episode involves mass hysteria.Kristen points out multiple bizarre cases from history most famously the mad dance, way back in the 16th century.David's recent 'sins' start to catch up.And evil has started to affect Kristen's family too now.Leland continues with his masterful brainwashing sessions.Michael Emerson is a delight with his dialogue delivery. The episode ends on a cliffhanger though I don't think many people will buy it.

Emotional roller coaster
9 December 2019
After the highs of Ep. 9,things cool off on expected lines.Dom is under investigation,Whiterose's cover is officially blown away & trillions of dollars are in limbo. This episode was mainly dedicated to Dom & Darlene. The creators have been explicit about the deep bond the two of them share,so it was nice to see the relationship get a full showcase.Carly & Grace Gummer were fantastic in this ep.Carly got a chance to show great emotional range..right from exhilaration to hysteria & she pulls it off perfectly. The episode also makes small aversions to the real meaning of justice. It was also nice to see the events come full circle.Elliot & Darlene started out as anarchists.Once their job was done, they followed on with their beliefs/ideals.

There are very few episodes left now.The major questions still remain.Expect the show to be back to breakneck pace from the next week.

Another solid episode
2 December 2019
Sam Esmail & his team have been churning out great episode after great episode in S4.This episode plays out like a season finale. The hack goes at lightning speed & the characters trump(pun intended) the odds in very satisfying scenes.Darlene was the true MVP in this episode. She does fantastic stuff with the python script.Whiterose & Philip duke it out in a game of mental poker, with all stakes in Price's hands.A lot more happens & it seems the show is moving towards a happy ending. There are still a lot of unanswered questions though. There was a short tease at the beginning, but the episode took a different route altogether. We should be back at that thread in the coming episodes & I seriously doubt we'll have a happy ending.

Excellent follow-up
25 November 2019
The final season of "Mr. Robot" has been getting almost everything right. The episode last week blew all of us away & continues to hold a 10/10 rating. So,it was a very tough act to follow. There is a huge recency bias when such episodes come up. I remember the episode after "Ozymandias" didn't get as many claps, even though it was terrific. Sam Esmail somehow manages to hold the chips for a brilliant follow up to the last ep. The stakes are high, the acting is fantastic & tension abounds in every frame with Janice. And all this while, the emotional threads stay intact.

Now to wait another week.

Evil (2019–2024)
9/10
Excellent mix of faith, rationality & the supernatural
22 November 2019
I just happened to watch "Evil" one day & it was a very pleasant surprise. The show is mainly about three characters,in the backdrop of an increasingly troublesome neighborhood.David Acosta is an assessor & an open minded "man of faith" who is willing to listen to explanations other than demons & spirits.Kristen Bouchard is a psychologist who is completely unwilling to subscribe to anything about demons, ghosts, etc.Ben Shakir is a technical expert, who is even more unwilling to listen to anything involving ghosts, demons, spirits & will go out of his way to smirk at such ideas. This premise sounds a bit similar to "The X-Files" right? But "Evil" soon finds it's own footing. The show excels with it's use of ambiguity. While "The X-Files" very clearly took sides,"Evil" doesn't.Every episode is so deftly edited that you can justify the major incidents as being purely psychological or being completely real."Evil" also uses just the right pinch of horror elements to elevate the story threads.Katja Herbers is very good as the determined, independent & doting mother.Mike Colter too, does a great job in his somewhat confused man of faith character.Michael Emerson is a terrifying presence whenever he appears.

At all times,"Evil" keeps the door open to both possibilities. The experiences of the side characters tilt us towards one side, but then some other incident tilts us to another side. It's a testament to the quality of the writing on the show, that we are left guessing in every episode.

Do check this one out.

Contact (1997)
10/10
Beautiful!
14 October 2019
"Contact" centers on Ellie Arroway,a child prodigy & then a brilliant physicist. She has a single-minded devotion to only one question. Are we alone? Or is the universe just an "awful waste of space"? These questions though are not well received by the scientific community,at large. Most notably, the influential & resourceful Dr. Drumlin. This leads to the practical vs. pure science confrontation.Ellie though does find some like-minded people to help her in her pursuit. She is a living body of passion. She eats & breathes only to get back to picking up just any concrete evidence about extra-terrestrials.Amidst all this, the movie also manages to juxtapose some very large questions. The faith vs. science debate rages on with the character of Joss Palmer. He is a "man of faith",a Christian who also seems to know some science. His ideas are intersting & fit in quiet well in the movie.Ellie's run-in into Dr. Drumlin again, leads to the idealism vs. practicality debate.Do we want to hear what the other person is saying or just what we want to hear? The movie many such observations about humans & it's partially cynical that way.I absolutely loved how they handled the part after the "big discovery" is made public. The reactions of various sections of society hit really close to home. The movie constantly teases the belief aspect of our actions.Bring it to a head in the climax.

Robert Zemeckis seems to be the high priest of Sci-fi movies. His works are taut,well-directed & very clearly focused."Contact"'s special effects hold up well even today.Ellie's "contact" is an exhilarating scene. The machine and it's interiors are excellent set pieces.Jodie Foster is absolutely brilliant here. Her subtle reactions to the events around her totally sell her character & make us invested in her arc.Jodie carries the movie effortlessly.

The movie is not without it's faults though. There are some scenes that felt hammy.Still, all's well that ends well. And end well it did.It was surprising to read that the critic reviews were so mixed..may I say that they should've sent a poet instead.

Joker (I) (2019)
9/10
Visceral gut punch
8 October 2019
The "Joker" offers a very deep insight into the chaotic mind of one of the most famous comic book villains of all-time.While the cartoon & later movies portray Joker as a lunatic who just enjoys causing agony to Batman, this movie is about a very different Joker.Right from the first scene there is something off about him.We soon find that he is lonely, disturbed & pretty much rejected by society.Arthur also suffers from some mental condition and the first half makes it quiet clear that he has a very poor understanding of people. Most notably when he laughs at the "non funny" moments of an act while he has no idea about the "punch line" when the rest of the public is laughing.Arthur has had nothing good happen to him in his life. The way he thinks & the way he functions is so different from anyone else that he's called a "freak".His only solace in this world is his mother who lives with him and loves him dearly.Arthur in turn is a good son who takes good care of his mom.All this takes place in an angry Gotham city. The general public feels cheated & rejected by the elites of the society. The class divide has taken a violent turn and things escalate when an elite decides to run for mayor. The protests soon turn into an all-out rebellion against the "system".However, the way the movie is edited things are not so straightforward. The edits happen at weird times to the point that the following scene has very little connection to anything else in the previous scene. Is this just Arthur imagining stuff? Has he even become the Joker or is he locked up in an asylum living a parallel delusive life? Or is this him reminiscing about Batman's childhood? Todd Phillips manages to make a cohesive movie while leaving us with these questions.

"Joker" borrows whole-heartedly from "Taxi Driver" & even "King of Comedy".The parallels are just too obvious. However, the movie is far less violent than "Taxi Driver"(a 4 decade old movie!) Thus,it was baffling to me that it was so hysterically lambasted by critics for "glorifying violence" & what not. There is no such high volume gore or bloodshed here and I doubt anyone is going to go out & start killing people after seeing "Joker".

Unbelievable (2019)
10/10
Great series!
26 September 2019
This show has a lot going for it..right from the performances, the editing, the direction and the story itself.Based on a true story about a girl almost forced to accept that she was not raped(while she was!),the show follows her story along with other threads.Through the investigation the viewer learns a lot about the law enforcement system. Most notably how rape is treated as a decidedly "inferior" crime compared to murders, even while rapes are arguably more heinous since the victim has to live through it & beyond.Similarly,it was shocking to know that a fairly large percentage of the police in the US have domestic violence cases against them. The chemistry of the leads is great & they work very well together.Their personalities are just perfect for the case. The show also manages to touch upon the foster care system & how it probably fails to fulfill it's objectives.Similarly, the whole "counseling" circle is also seen to be more careful about it's own reputation than the victims. This is understandable though & a product of the system we live in.You don't get too far unless you have a clean track record. Thus, your actions get influenced by this desire to keep your record clean even as you become more insensitive in the process. After watching the series I still find it hard to hate the officers who effected that "false statement".They were doing their job and there a lot of variables involved which neither side could've known. Finally, the investigation part is great too.It unfolds like a great novel as the investigators latch on to small clues and work overtime to catch the perpetrator.

"Unbelievable" can be a bit hard to watch at times, but I highly recommend it nonetheless.

Tom Ford is probably a genius
7 May 2019
What a movie! Inspite of telling a 3-way story this movie manages to be cohesive. The credit goes to Tom Ford who steers the narratives without cluttering them.Amy Adams & especially Jake Gyllenhaal are fantastic in their roles. And a shoutout to Aaron Taylor-Johnson who plays a hate-worthy part to perfection. He was so creepy, without any heavy dialogue. He conveys such disdain with just his body language! The storytelling is very interesting & avoids the pitfalls that come with it.There is a layered symbolism that unravels, the better you understand the characters. Some casting choices are also very smart. The movie jumps between timelines and sometimes it's hard to follow since you are so invested in all the timelines.Tom trusts his viewers to remember the visual cues..all of which reveal something that is not entirely expressed. This in tune with the other parts of the movie. An attentive viewing is essential to 'get' this movie.

Hard to watch at times, but really rewarding movie.Recommend it!
