Solid thriller

I enjoyed this Hulu original movie and I think it's best to go in cold. I knew nothing except that people were raving about it.

That being said I do feel the hype is a little overblown but that should not suggest i was not very entertained. This is a tight film with great performances but does get silly at moments and yes the movie was predictable but in my opinion not ina bad way. When you expect twist you tend to play these things out in your mind and that can be unfair to the film, however I was not angry to have predicted some of the twist and the movie was never boring.

Saw IV (2007)

Good but not what it could have been.(SPOILER)

First off let me say I am a huge SAW fan,I have liked each entry in the franchise more than the last until now. If you are a SAW fan and like the films so far then you should go see this. Plenty of blood for the violent craving. The thing I loved was the origin of Jigsaw,truly the reason to watch this. I had an idea for a film called SAW 0 that they pretty much did with the flash backs for the main man in this film. Thank god,do to these we get plenty of Tobin Bell in this movie.

But for me with this fourth entry the Saw films have begun their decline. But bring on the next one because I feel the franchise has a little left to say.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Spider-Man 3 is a great flick

This has minor spoils.

So I just saw Spider-Man 3 at my work and I must say it was everything I hoped and prayed a sequel to the second one would be. Spider-Man 2 was my favorite film of the year it came out. So my hopes were as high as anyones could be and I was not let down a bit.

Positive 1. The action is the best yet with several awesome fight scenes and tons of webswinging. 2. The acting on both Tobey and James is the best of the three films. 3. The Villains are cool and I was very surprised to find that I liked Sandman more than Venom.

Negative 1.The film may drag for some in areas. I did not feel this way but some that saw it did. 2.For as long as this film is the end still might feel rushed to some. It was a mistake to put Venom as a secondary villain. He deserves a movie all of his own.

We Are Marshall (2006)

Good flick

As sick as I am of football flicks this year I must admit I rather enjoyed this film. Mainly because of the great performance of its lead. He does a great job as the weird coach that is so offbeat and positive that this town that is healing from the biggest tragedy it has ever known,just does not know have to take him. Mcg also proves he can direct something that is not flashy and slick. It will be a great film for families to see together and it does a good job pulling on the old heartstrings. Matthew Fox also does great as the assistant coach who lived through it all and has many demons to face. WE ARE MARSHELL is the best film of its kind since Remember the Titans.

Rocky Balboa (2006)

I had a good time

I just got home from screening Rocky Balboa and I must say I liked it a lot. It was not the greatest film ever made but what is anymore. The sixth entry in a franchise that should be dead after the fifth one, should be crap. But it is for from that and Sly's passion can be seen all over this flick. Being a major fan of his it has been hard to watch his career go down the tubes. He is very underrated and belongs in better flicks than the straight to video action crap he has been doing. He has given us some great flicks in his day and I think he has some left in him.

Any major Rocky fan owes it to themselves and to Sly himself to check out this film this week. It is much better than a lot of the crap out right now and just uplifting to no end. it's got the feel of the original and a lot of the heart.

Apocalypto (2006)

Great Flick

Just as films go, this is a winner. I loved it start to finish. I am a big Mel Gibson fan. Yes he has done some dumb things but I think it's possible to separate career of someone away from their personal life. But anyway on to my humble opinion on his film. This film is never boring and those who hate reading their movies might want to stay away. But if you want to be put into a world of the past and feel like you live there. This film is for you. I think a lot of people are confused about what this movie is. It is not an accurate telling of the end of the Mayans, but an adventure in their world. I recommend this film to anyone who loves well created worlds because Gibson does that and then some. Also the characters are great and I found myself not feeling in anyway alienated by their ways. They are people,not savages,well at least not all off them. The action is well done on top of awesome sets and amazing makeup and wardrobes. put your feelings for Gibson aside and check this out.

Silent Hill (2006)

Well worth the wait!!!!!!!!!

I have been waiting for this film ever since I was hanging with my friend and he was playing SH2 and I was like"this would rock as a horror film". And after what I saw I think I was right. Now unlike the RESIDENT EVIL film that changes some locations and the feel of the game, SILENT HILL keeps what made the game so great and that is MYSTERY. The trailer did not show much and that helped the whole not knowing what the hell is going on thing that this film keeps to its very end. Now a lot of people have complained about the lack of explanation, but I for one love staying on my feet and wondering. This film kicked my ass hardcore. The violence is extreme and thats the way I love it. The creatures are amazing(makes Hellraiser look funny)stuff.

Now on the down side the film could have been shorter and some acting could have been way better. But overall I cannot wait to see this town again.

Ultraviolet (2006)

Far from finished

This movie was one I had waited for a long time. And after screening it at my theater tonight I have to say. Why did they not finish the fx in this film. I loved it otherwise. Some great and original action with a really cool lead played by one of my faves Miss Milla Jovovich and a director whose debut(EQULIBRIUM) kicked my butt many times.

This movie could have been great popcorn fun if so many bad cg shots did not slap you in the face. It has its moments of good cg to, the opening shot was awesome. And the fights give us the goods. Some bad dialouge is in here to but I can forgive that in a flick this cool but the cg was unforgivable. I would love for a film like this to get the Lucas touch up because it needs it. I still got a kick out of it and am gonna see it again tonight with some friends. So did I love it well yeah because I see the film it could have been if it was finished and is it gonna get in my DVD collection, you bet but will it enter my heart like EQULIBRIUM, SADLEY NO

Dawn of the Dead (2004)

Hard to veiw as a remake

I love this movie as I do the original Romero film. But I find it very hard to compare them. The original is a great horror satire that has some great laughs in it. But the "remake" is a fantastic horror/drama.

I find it hard to call this film a remake because it only shares three things with the original.Title,zombies, and a mall. All the characters and plot are very much different. One think this should be viewed as it's own film and any die hard fan of Romero's classic should go in with an open mind.

This movie has one of the greatest opening's of any horror film ever made. Puts you in a peaceful world for alittle while and then takes you to hell and just does not give an inch. Directing and acting all top notch on this one.

The Cave (2005)

Not all that bad

This movie had everything I like about a movie about monsters killing people except bloody kill shots. The story was one that anyone who watched AVP are any other monster flick today has seen all too many times.But thats OK it is a b movie delight not to have a story that makes you think. It was enjoyable to spend all that time down in the cave with cardboard characters who you just cannot wait to see die but when their time comes the awesome pg-13 rating says its time to cut away. One thing I can say is I love Cole Hauser he is the the king of not getting good roles but aways pulling off decent work. I hope the man starts to see some good scripts. He and everyone else did fine jobs at their basic killable characters and the movie if it had a R rating would have been fine but it was just build up to quick shots and too little blood. My guess is that this will have an unrated DVD that will please more than the theatrical cut so just wait.
