Vice (2018)
Lazy story telling
I can just imagine the pitch for this film. "Let's make a biography of Darth Vader. We all know Cheney is Darth Vader so all we need to do is find the evidence to back up what we already know to be true.". Where there is no evidence, wie'll manipulate the facts through unverifiable conversations, and create unprovable assertions. These are exactly the accusations they make against Cheney and Bush for manipulating the American people into going to war in Iraq. Picking and choosing the information that validates what they believe to be true and ignoring everything else. I learned nothing new about Cheney. Lazy research.
Timeless: Chinatown (2018)
Fantastic!
This was an utterly fantastic ending to the season. I have been enjoying the ride all season long assuming that the show was going to be over and it would be canceled at the end of the season. The last two episodes have answered and created so many questions. They succeeded in bringing the show in a new direction and creating a new storyline. There's so many unanswered questions, I'm begging some network to allow a season three.

A human history
30 years ago I sat home on a rainy day and discovered my calling. I stumbled upon this great American film and by the time it was over I knew I wanted to be a history teacher. The relationship between Adams and Franklin, the witty song lyrics which actually tell the true story of our quest for independence, and the humorizing of these great men (Yes, I said humorizing!) Throughout the last 28 years of my teaching career, I have often found myself reliving this version of history. William Daniels IS John Adams. Howard De Silva is Ben Franklin. The performances are so right that I hear their voices in my head while I teach. It accomplishes what all great films do. It makes the viewer want to learn more about the subject. I can not recommend this film highly enough.
