Butterfly (1975)
Maria Forsa gorgeous , Eric Edwards a fantasist.
25 January 2024
First off , the trivia quoting Eric Edwards is almost certainly total bullxxxx. He says he was flown over to europe to do softcore scenes. Why on earth would the director of a softcore film go to the expense and trouble of flying over a hardcore performer to do softcore scenes ? Total nonsense , even more so when he says that he and Maria Forsa got so aroused they did hardcore because they couldn't help themselves. This is just egotistical bragging. Joe Sarno clearly filmed 2 versions , one hardcore , the other softcore. All the performers would have known this advance.

He was very lucky to do the scene though , as Maria Forsa is stunning in this film , though more so in her scene with Harry Reems. Eroticism is very rare in porno , but Maria Forsa had the capacity to look genuinely , totally orgasmic , a performance rarely matched in decades of porn since this was made. Maybe Hedy Lamarr matched her in Ecstacy a few decades earlier.

Depicting The Bizarre As Normal
24 July 2014
OK , i've only seen the last episode , but that's enough. I can't believe this series presents what are basically a bunch of religious loonies as being normal. Are we supposed to care what happens to this bunch of morons ? Morons missing the letter ''m''. Judging by the sentimental background music it seems we are. The potential was here for a satirical comedy , instead we get deadpan seriousness.

To a Brit like myself , Mormons rank alongside Scientologists as being a weird religious cult . By all means let them indulge their bizarre beliefs , but for goodness sake don't turn the bizarre into the everyday.

What a waste of a great cast , especially Bill Paxton , wonderful in the brilliant A Simple Plan.

Maybe the producers could come up with a follow up , depicting the ups and downs of an everyday Taliban family in which the master of the house struggles with one wife who wants to listen to music , another who wants to wear make up and a third who wants to fly a kite.

Pretentious Rubbish With Two Redeeming Elements.
2 August 2013
Aka My Left Testicle , aka The Unbearable Pretentiousness of a Dreadful Film.

Absolutely awful . Dreadful script , comically bad acting , especially from the perpetually smug Daniel Day Lewis and his terrible mid European accent.

It does though warrant 2 stars for the acres of bare flesh displayed by the equally gorgeous Lena Olin and Juliette Binoche.

So don't waste 150 minutes of your life , search the net and find the 15 minutes or so of Olin and Binoche at their beautiful best. Don't waste your time on the other 135 minutes.
