Cold Creek Manor (2003)
Watched it in 2002 and again in 2021
Having watched CCM originally in the Theaters upon its release, I expected more and unfortunately got alot less. I recently revised it on the Disney Channel and at least this time I didn't find it laughingly terrible, it still was.
The Outsider (2020)
Ahhh... 9.5 or a 10
Reminds me of : Sinner, Ozark
Potential: With Stephan King, skys the limit
I was curious at what Jason Bateman gets up to between his Ozark shoots. Ahh..of course. Something like The Outsiders. I expected it to be decent. What I got half way through the first scene, is brilliance.
Gotham: Legend of the Dark Knight: The Trial of Jim Gordon (2019)
Wedding... Why this Episode deserves your attention
You can tell how the Wedding Scene was a Cast/Crew Shot. The look in their eyes, smiles, the entire SET, was enamoured with that Scene.
Congratulations Ben and Morena !! Easily my favorite episode. Specifically because of:
-that
-one
-scene
Freaks (2018)
Firestarter 2.0
Slipped by my Radar. So fortunate to have come across this film. There's no doubt it reminded me of a young Drew in Firestarter which I saw in the theatres back in the good ole days. Cool story that started a bit muddled but it just gets better and better. Fantastic performances all around and if you're a Bruce Dern fan and ever needed to reassurance of his magical skill as an actor, you MUST see this. Stellar performances but Bruce steals the show. Bravo!!
Echo in the Canyon (2018)
Listen up Naysayers.. A true Masterpiece (and the secret is Neil Young.)
Yes, there was more Jakob Dylan, of whom I know only as the son of Bob. His performances entail maybe 25% of this Documentary. His skill as well as his accompanying Band AND guest appearances by Norah Jones and Fiona Apple is excellent and honorable, as his performances are covers of many whom are interviewed.
Among others, David Crosby, Stills, Nash, Brian Wilson, Ringo, et All are well interviewed and a clear picture of LA in the 60s is portrayed. The relationship between The Beach Boys and The Beatles..
The coolest part is at the very end. Those who get hung up on the Jakobs bit missed it, and it was starring you right in the face.
How does a film maker exit such a piece? Giving a mention and tribute to the song Expecting To Fly by Buffalo Springfield. This tied the entire experience together.
First Stills gives us a back story on Neil and how he up and quit the night before their appearance on Carson.
Neil escorted the 60s sound into the 70s with his electric skills. Cut to Neil rockin' out in a studio. No interview. Just the proof one needs that Classic Rock/Folk was evolving.
Thank you to all involved as Films like this continue to educate. Graham Nash, bless his soul, said it best. Indeed, music can change the world.
Them That Follow (2019)
Stellar Cast reunion
Dever and Goggins together again. Justified Fans Rejoice! HALLELUJAH!! Watch their careers blosom.
Robin Hood (2010)
Wow, what a Line Up!
As I'm guessing Sir Scott would have the last say on the Actors he wishes to work with on his projects, I cant recall the last time I was so excited to see such a fantastic cast on one project. It's no surprise considering, however Robin Hood is heavy on Actors who've already made their mark in Hollywood and those up in comers who now, decades later are heavyweights themselves. Absolutely not only worthy a watch but to sit in my personal collection.
The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey (2016)
30 min in..
Not sure why I avoided researching this Case. Perhaps the disgust I have towards the parents parading their children in pageants where they dress kids up as adults. That's all I knew about Jon Bennett. 30 min in and the initial phone call made by Patty, Jon Bennetts mother is broken down by a round table of investigators. This is followed by the scrutiny of the Ransom Note. I understand that while some will question the motives of cold case investigation but there is no argument on the dissection of the facts thus far. There is no bad science. There is science and there is not science. So far the information and theory shared is certainly interesting.
Stranger Things (2016)
Season 3... Brilliant.
Couldn't get into the feel of S1 or S2. Not that I didnt appreciate the accuracy of the Timeline, especially since I was that same age in the 80's. But S3 changed all of that. S3 was one of the greatest shows ever to hit the "Idiot Box"...
Every episode was great and a finale that'll blow your mind. Especially if your a fan of SciFi Horror. Not only are the Fx spectacular, the lighting and camera work is worthy of Alfred Hitchcock. The suspense, even when you know this monstrosity is right in front of you, the Writers and various Directors hit it out of the Park. Easy 10/10.
