Grace Is Gone (2007)
It's Real
I saw this movie the other day, and I hadn't heard about it before, so basically I thought the advertising for it wasn't all that great. But when I watched it, I found it to be similar to the way a real family would act.
John Cusack is not in is best performance by any means, but I felt that he portrayed a good depiction of a man who has just lost his wife. The sisters acted like real sisters would, fighting with each other, annoying their father, saying "are we there yet" every 10 seconds. This is what made me give the movie a 7/10, which I believe is deserves.
I did have a couple of problems with the movie though. When Cusack takes the family to his mother's house, where was she? Is it just the uncle who lives there? And I found the oldest daughter to be quite disturbed, even before her mother passed away.
Saw IV (2007)
Finally, Jigsaw is going to hell where he belongs
*Scary voice* "Stop saving people officer, the only way you can truly save them is by KILLING THEM!!! BAHAHAHAHAH!!!! I'm a psychotic bastard who cuts himself open in order to insert a pointless tape in my stomach!!!" Saw 4 is a dead end to what was a great series. Saw 1 and 2 were 2 of the best horror films of all time. Not only were they original, but the two movies combined crime with sheer terror, and not just sheer character stupidity. In the first two Saw movies the psycho babble bullshit was there, and there were mild hints of stupidity involved, but both movies delivered. Saw 3 and 4 just had rib cages and scalps torn apart.
The plot of this Saw 4 was that a man was to be punished because he saves people, and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a cop SUPPOSED TO SAVE PEOPLE!!??!?!?! For crying out loud Jigsaw, you don't save people, get it through your gross torn open head and see that a cop is supposed to show concern for his fellow citizens and colleagues, he isn't supposed to sit and wait while they get torn apart, maimed, burned and dissolved in acid. I wouldn't blame the guy for trying to save people, THERE IS A LITTLE THING CALLED HELL! Why the heck is Eric Matthews in yet another trap!??!?!?! Didn't the poor guy learn his lesson when he had to cut off his leg, have his son trapped in a room with a poison leak, and stabbed with a needle by some psychotic bitch?(with whom I'm glad to see dead....finally)! Now he's standing on an ice block with a prosthetic limb and he can only be saved if A COP, yes A COP! Decides to be lazy and decide to let the guy rot. OK, who the heck is going to find out that the guy is going to die if he tries to save him? The movie is long and pointless, reveals nothing, and spirals out of control in what seems to be an attempt to be soaked in by audience members. You lost me at the third, I'm not following the series from now on... You hear that? You lost yet another fan.
300 (2006)
Better than the original! (Gore fest!)
This movie is nothing less than amazing, and I loved it, but that's just an honest opinion, if you have not seen it, take a look at this comment and see if it succeeds to arouse your interests. I was expecting a lot out of this film, and my expectations were delivered and then some. This movie consisted of many different themes. War, love, happiness, betrayal, pride, integrity, passion, etc. Anyone who loves war movies or battles, I would recommend this movie to them. Otherwise, I would stay away from it. There were many great visual effects and scenery, it's a work of art. This is probably my favourite movie about ancient times by far. Other than the Gladiator.
The Prestige (2006)
Keeps you guessing!
The first time that I watched this movie, I had became interested immediately as I am a big fan of Hugh Jackman. Each and every actor played their respective parts well. Basically, there are two rival magicians and they're both trying to out do each other, what happens is that they both sabotage their rivals' acts. This leads them both to a driving obsession that takes over their lives. They both become so obsessed with magic that they don't seem to notice everything else in life. At the end of the film all of the twists come out... and the film becomes very, very interesting after that. You have to watch it twice to understand the entirety of the film.
Black Christmas (2006)
This movie was so stupid...
I'm a huge horror film fanatic. I saw this movie on PPV and spent about $5 on it, and do I ever want that money back! The movie failed to even make my 5-year-old sister scared, it was like a comedy with no plot that made you laugh a couple of times.
There were some gross scenes, like when the mother had sex with her son just to have a child!?!?! I mean WTF right? The killer (Billy) had some weird obsession with ripping his victims eyes out...wow another psycho movie that sucks... and he likes to eat human flesh apparently.
The plot was built on the stupidity of the victims... for example, Ms.Mac suggests that they leave the building and go to safety... the other dumb broads say "Oh no, we have to stay here...people are getting killed and we have to stay here to find out what's happening!!" Some of the deaths were far-fetched including the Mrs.Mac's where she gets hit with an icicle. I mean, that wouldn't be enough to kill someone. The very beginning had an idiot cop who looked inside Billy's cell and saw that he wasn't sitting in his chair...well you don't go inside the cell you stupid idiot!! One thing I didn't get was why the hell the killers were so dead set on killing these random, stupid people...I mean, just because your mother was a psychopath doesn't mean you have to kill everyone you see, and everything just went so conveniently for him.
And dear god, that snow was obviously fake...they were standing outside in a blizzard, and you couldn't even see their breath! Ususally when it's freezing, you can see your breath. And what the hell was with the main breaker being under the house? Most normal people have their main breakers inside the house...and most people have their doors locked so no psychopath idiot losers can get inside.
One more thing, one of the last scenes, when Agnes is stabbed in the eye with a fork...THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH TO KILL SOMEONE!!! OR AT LEAST MAKE THEM BLEED SO MUCH THAT THEY CANNOT ATTACK YOU ANYMORE!!! There, I got my beef out, whoever the hell it was who made this movie should go die in a hole...this was a piece of crap and a waste of time...I want to give it a negative vote...I can't believe it's rank is higher than a 1!! People must like the dumb plots and all that junk...
Forrest Gump (1994)
How did this not get a higher rating than Fight Club?
I agree with most of the IMDb's top 250 list, but two things have puzzled me. One of them is the fact that Forrest Gump is currently #81 on the list, and a movie that wasn't bad, but not nearly as good as this called Fight Club, was #31! The other thing was that Forrest Gump was so low on the top 250 list. I think it should be in the top 20, right up there with Goodfellas, but it's not!! Tom Hanks basically had a star turning role in this film. It's one of his best performances to date and he didn't even make the top 20? The movie was a mixture of comedy and drama, something that is so hard to do and seldomly keeps the story in place, but Forrest Gump did. This was brilliantly casted and very well directed.
Epic Movie (2007)
Sucks
A lot of you might be thinking, this movie is sooo underrated!! But it those of you who do, probably are under the age of 13 or you have drank yourself to the point that your braincells are almost completely gone. The only reason that I gave it a 2 and not a 1, is for one joke, ONE JOKE, that I laughed at. The part where Kal Penn is looking down at White Castle and says "I feel like I've been there before..." That made me laugh for about 4 seconds, the best this movie could do. I wasted my $5 admission fee to get into this movie and I want it back!! This is the worst Wayans film made so far. And if they make a Date Movie or Epic Movie 2, they're definitely not getting my money for that.
Rest Stop (2006)
Typical, predictable and just plain stupid.
It all starts with a really stupid main character, in this case, Nicole Carrow. She and her boyfriend pull into this stop and some psychopath abducts him, so the idiot goes into the rest stop in search of him, gets tortured and somehow escapes, and then returns to the spot where she was going to be killed? If I was her, I would be gone, no boyfriend, GONE!! She then tries to kill the guy when he's in his truck, well... the truck blows up, but somehow... The freaking guy ends up behind her and gets her again, I think she deserves it, stupid idiot. But it's SOO VERY predictable and this type of garbage is getting old and has been done many times before, like the crappy movie Wrong Turn, exactly the same deal. Don't waste your time.
Slither (2006)
Comedy yes, But Horror?
The movie was pretty funny, I just love it when they make fun of the mutant brain dead flesh feeding people. It wasn't any bit scary, and I would advise to anyone not to rent it if they want a horror film, but............. if they want a few good laughs, rent it. The movie had not so bad actors, and some scenes were kind of gross. Not my cup of tea I'd say, but funny. If you like this title, I would recommend Shaun of The Dead or Scary Movie. It's hard to sit through at the end, and when I first saw it, I had no idea it was supposed to be a comedy, but it was haha funny HAHAHAH! That's all I have to say about this one... Tata for now
A Few Good Men (1992)
You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!
I saw this movie in the 8th grade, it was a treat. First off, we have a great cast led by Jack Nicholson. It has to be one of the best war movies that I've seen in the years. Demi Moore was great, Jack Nicholson was great the cast really are a few good men! Go see this movie, I mean it, go see it, it's awesome! It's an excellent story and these actors are perfect for their respective roles. Many memorable quotes such as the infamous "You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!!!" And a movie that you can watch many times over. It deserves an 8/10 just for the hard work everyone put into making it as good as it was. Watch it!
The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
Kind of Retarded.
I rented it... I can't believe that I spent the $5 for the rental fees. This type of thing has been done before... Many times before and I would like to stress that a family of mutant cannibals is very stupid. If it is meant to scare... it didn't meet any demands of a horror film. It is not a classic, it's basically a step backwards of the original... No wait, it's a GIGANTIC leap backwards. Terrible actors, bad script, nothing good about it accept for the fact that it was funny! The 6.2 rating is a load of ****. The only reason I watched this is because I heard it was good. Let me tell you, that man owes me 5 bucks, because this was a waste of my life, I would rather go upstairs and watch new episodes of SNL.
Click (2006)
Awesome! A life Lesson!
I really loved this one. A lot of people expected that it was going to be a silly typical Adam Sandler movie. My friends told me that it wasn't very funny, and I wasn't going to watch it. BUT... it WAS funny, I couldn't stop laughing at the beginning, I was astonished. And at the middle, a lesson telling you to pay attention to every detail in life. I've watched it over and over. It is well casted and well written. I can see Sandler putting out some more mature movies because of it. It's the perfect formula, a bit of comedy mixed in with a great storyline. The whole family can love it(even the kids) and provides intelligent comedy. It's a must-see and worth the money to rent or buy it.
A Scanner Darkly (2006)
Great animation! Minor spoiler
I was given this movie for Christmas, and was reluctant to watch it, the cover of the movie didn't arouse my interest, and neither did the title. But I thought hey I'll give it a shot. So I put it in the DVD player and pressed play and decided to never again judge a movie by it's cover! It was well animated, something new, creative. It was well casted and beautifully written! A few things blew me away... The story line, the acting and the animation most of all. Keanu Reeves acted well. The animation was incredible. The characters stunningly looked like the actors. It's a story about a man who goes undercover and hangs out with some druggies, and soon becomes addicted. He goes completely bonkers, but I won't give too much away.
Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003)
Why are Jim Carrey classics always ruined?
First, the was ruined, and on top of it, they had to come out with a sequel to the Mask as well? They both suck. But getting to this one, it was incredibly stupid and not funny at all. It is quite possibly the worst film that I've ever seen. There were a few not bad actors in it, but they sucked in this. And there were minor laughs. I would NOT recommend this to anyone and would NOT recommend the Son of the mask either. Do NOT see this film, I wasted my time, don't waste yours. I can't even get to the amount of a minimum post requirement, so I'm just rambling on now, WHATEVER you do, don't watch this movie.... Please don't watch it!!
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
Has to be the best one yet.
I have to say, this is my personal favorite Harry Potter film. It introduces a lot of new aspects of the film and brings up many questions. I loved the characters Dobby(The House Elf), Professor Lockhart, Luscious Malfoy, Ginny Weasley, Weasley Sr, and the introductions of The Whomping Willow and Moaning Myrtle. The film was incredible. I loved the flying car scene and when they were trying to escape the giant spiders. Sadly, it was the last one that Richard Harris lived for, and the last of John Williams music and even the last Chris Colombus directing. I don't know why the rating is only 7.3, why is it so underrated?
50 First Dates (2004)
Sandler's most mature and best movie he's starred in so far.
Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore deliver. The Wedding Singer was good, so is this. The idea for the film was brilliant, a well written, smart comedy(something Sandler hasn't done too many of) but I can see him turning into a great comedy actor. If you like this, I would recommend watching Click and Spanglish. Rob Scneider even has an excellent role, and Alan Covert as 10 Second Tom was absolutely hilarious. Sean Astin as the juice using brother was also great. And Dan Akroyd played his part very well. The only thing that I didn't like about the movie was that Steve Buscemi wasn't in it!! But... despite that, the cast clicked, and it was brilliantly written. Rent it!
Little Man (2006)
Very Funny and Underrated
I voted a 10, because this movie is so very underrated. It starts off boring, but it gets hilarious as you get into it. And sure it is a typical "Black" comedy. Aren't all of the Wayans Borthers movies "Black" comedies, I mean after all, they are black... I thought just about every joke was hilarious. And sure, it had a bad plot, but that's what most comedies are like today. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes to have a good laugh, because if you watch this, the laughs will be non-stop! This movie is sooooo not one of the worst movies ever made, it was great! That's all I have to say, enjoy the movie(anyone who hasn't seen it of course!)
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)
Mike Myers at his best!!
This film is probably the best film that Mike Myers has ever starred in over the course of his career. Definitely a must see if you like comedy. He stars as a British spy who must stop Dr.Evil(also played by Myers) from ultimately drilling a hole into the Earth's core, causing the Earth to flood with molten hot "Magma." The chemistry overall is excellent, the laughs are constant. The hilarious appearance of Will Ferrel as Moustafa was probably my favourite part. If you like this film I would like to also recommend Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Austin Powers in Goldmember, and if you like those, try watching the Shrek series. 8/10 overall
Silent Hill (2006)
Not a lot of people understood the movie
Personally, I didn't mind the movie, but I also didn't truly understand it until I saw it the 2nd time. It isn't a horror film, but more of a mystery/thriller. The people of the village were like early 1000s burning witches and stuff There were a couple death scenes but not gory or anything like that. I thought the mother was a little whacky as well at the beginning. The reason I am only giving a 6/10 is because of the weirdness at the beginning. Watch this movie if you're in for a good mystery, good acting but I didn't care for the stroyline, so 6/10 is my rating... and also, if you liked the movie, try the video game, it's pretty good and similar to the movie.
