Production Quality doesn't make up for
21 December 2021
The production value is easily a 9/10 or 10/10. Fight choreography is easily an 11/10.

In my honest opinion though, that doesn't make up for a superficial plot, lackluster characters with hollow motivations or the generic dialogue.

While fun to watch, it's hard to rate this as anything more than your slightly above average TV series. As a crime show, it's hard to rate it as anything above average - we've seen it all before, just this time it's less realistic (albeit the brutality does make it slightly more entertaining).

While the fight choreography is brilliant, I am unsure if that would be enough to sustain mine and a lot of people's interest through multiple seasons of this show. Hope they can come back with a more focused and realistic plot to complement the production and choreography better in future seasons.

Don't listen to most fans of the anime
22 November 2021
Of course, regardless of this review, to each their own but I feel that the negative reviews from most anime fans are kind of unfair because this isn't supposed to be like the anime. Its not a live action remake, it's an R-rated adaptation and so many forget what that means. It's taking the premise and the universe and doing its own thing in a different format. I was originally kind of wary about the show as I am also a fan of the anime but having watched it, I really liked what they did with it and am glad they didn't try to stick to the OG too much because we already have the anime and redoing it frame for frame would've been boring and pointless because we already have the original anime............

I also really like the changes/additions they have done to the story. Once again, I don't want a frame for frame remake so it was really refreshing to see how they mixed it up. They still kept the premise of the original episodes but executed differently - you know, what an "adaptation" is. It was coherent and easy to follow, didn't try to overcomplicate things and was well done from start to finish.

I also think the casting was done nicely. As a fan of the original, I instantly connected to each character and found them to be very human for the first time. Of course, the characters are kind of different from their animated counterparts but again, it's an R-rated adaptation so it's kind of unfair to rate it badly for the characters taking liberties somewhat. Btw, I never found the characters to be too different, this is pretty much what I expected them to be like as real people with the sliiiiight exception of Vicious (but I like Alex Hassell's work with the character so I'm over it).

I think most people who haven't watched the anime and won't watch the anime (which is probably most people on Netflix) will like this show because it has great production value and is really enjoyable - especially when not trying your hardest to scrutinise it against the original anime. And its kind of funky which is exactly what the original was as well.

Rick and Morty: Rickdependence Spray (2021)

It's fine, every TV Series has one bad episode
13 July 2021
Not all TV shows get as far as Rick and Morty has made it. Most shows which do, typically have one episode which is pretty bad. This episode is that for Rick & Morty.

Every single episode before this one has been a banger. Some more so than others but every episode has been a memorable classic before this one. This one was just pretty terrible. It had a couple funny jokes but I was quite taken aback by how bad it was as a Rick & Morty episode.

But again, after 46 episodes, you can't have every single one be legendary!

PLEASE Ignore ALL negative feedback
16 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you pay close attention, all of the negative feedback comes from people comparing this to the original. And I want to say that while each person is entitled to their own opinion, a lot of the reasoning for preferring the old is kind of dumb.

SPOILER DISCLAIMER: The rest of my review doesn't state any spoilers regarding the plot or characters, just generally speaking about certain elements from the show but ignore it if you want everything to be a brand-new experience.

Most are simply comparing the two shows and how different they are stylistically. While everyone can admit the show is beautifully made, people are talking about the charm and love for animals being lost. I don't understand how as the characters' love for animals is blatantly obvious considering the lengths they go to for the animals. The remaining reviews talk about how the storytelling and structure of the episodes differs from the original? Yeah, not that much of a surprise to be honest, considering we are 30 years AFTER the original. Should the world have stood still so that when a show you enjoy got remade, it would be remade the exact same way that you've already experienced?

I also see some reviewers talk about how the characters seem different from the original. I just came off YouTube having watched an episode of the older one and all I can say is THANK GOSH that the characters are different because they way they seemingly talk and communicate in the older show is very unrealistic. I cannot imagine human beings actually conversing as they seem to in the original. Seems very OTT for TV's sake. I even saw one review talk about how in the old series, it seemed more realistic when the vets perform an anal probe and that it actually made it a better show because of it. Really? The realism of an anal probe? Perhaps what you would like to watch isn't even on television.........

And my review isn't to say that if you like the original, you're wrong. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and preference is preference. You prefer the original for whatever reasons. But to use elements of the original series which you enjoy or appreciate, to justify the claim that this show is "bad" is very unobjective and I wanted to point that out for any viewers on the fence. Give it a chance and see for yourself!

Hilarious

Don't listen to all the people who came into this with a clearly closed mind. I came into this not knowing what to expect. And I laughed my ass off throughout. Later on I found out that the same people who made Brickleberry made this show, to which I was very surprised. I never liked Brickleberry, I basically thought they tried TOO hard to be funny. Paradise does try to be funny but I dont feel the humour or vulgarity is forced on you. The humour is also a lot more nuanced in this show versus Brickleberry. Just go into it with an open mind.

Worth sticking it out
6 February 2015
Personally I love the show and setting, so I'm going to try to do this from the perspective of someone who isn't so in touch with it as myself. Given the setting of the show, it may be off-putting and unappealing to viewers, but I guarantee you if you watch past the first 3-4 episodes that it will really catch your interest. Regardless of whether or not you like the setting, that is when the story starts to really pick up and the intensity gets turned up a notch. Honestly, if you are someone who is doubting watching this because you don't know whether it will be good or bad, seriously give it a try because the writing is great. (If you are a hip-hop fan, then you'd probably really like the soundtrack too)
