The Lusty Busty Babe-a-que (2008)
Melissa Brasselle fans rejoice
I gave this a 10 for one reason - Melissa Brasselle FINALLY goes topless for the first and only time in her career.
Other than that - it's just a typical, lame, T&A flick. If you're not a Melissa Brasselle fan there's really nothing special going on. Without Melissa I would rate it maybe 3 because there still is some decent nudity.
But if you've been waiting for Melissa Brasselle to finally take the plunge, she goes topless and actually does full frontal nudity (although covered somewhat by chocolate sauce). And her topless scenes are not just quick flashes - she fully shows the goods and you won't be disappointed.
This flick is very hard to find anymore, but well worth it if you can snag it.
Jump Out Boys (2008)
Just terrible
Kris Kristoferson should be ashamed for taking a role in this garbage heap. The acting was horrible on countless levels. Honestly, not one strong performance (including Kris). Not even one "good" performance.
The script was atrocious. The delivery was even worse. The acting quality was about on par with a late night Cinemax soft-core porn flick. The storyline was about as common and cliché as they come and seemed pieced together, disjointed and boring. And to boot, the video quality was very poor. I watched this in HD and it looked more like a VHS-quality movie - very grainy and low budget.
How anyone can say this is a great movie is beyond me. What is wrong with people?
Club Dread (2004)
indescribably bad.
C'mon folks. This is NOT and will NEVER be a cult classic. This is NOT a campy horror flick.
This is just plain bad.
Maybe it's my pet peeve for casting 30-something actors as "hip" teenagers. Sheesh. Maybe it's the gawdawful wigs the guys with long hair wore. Maybe it's just that the acting was horrible. Maybe the script was horrible. Maybe the plot has been done a bazillion times.
Yes - I realize what type of movie this is **trying** to be. But it falls WAY short.
Even if you're just watching it for T & A, there's not much and frankly, it's not all that great.
No need to go on and on. It's just a pathetic bomb. In every way.
Ladyhawke (1985)
Unforgettable in a strange sort of way
I remember this as one of my favorites from the 80's. Not sure why so many reviewers are down on Broderick's performance because I thought his character was integral and well done.
For whatever reason I never viewed this movie as a romance, but more of a fantasy adventure that had romance in it. The theme seems more of a magical adventure than a romance.
One disappointment is the DVD transfer of this movie. Unfortunately, it's one of the worst (maybe THE worst) transfer to DVD I've ever seen. The quality is utterly horrible. I have a decent TV and DVD player and played this using progressive output. I can't believe how grainy it is. Very very disappointing they could not clean this up better. The DVD quality barely looks better than standard VHS.
However, this is one of those movies that always captured my imagination for whatever reason. No, it's not perfect and maybe you need to be in just the right mood to watch it, but I think it is utterly enjoyable.
The Lords of Flatbush (1974)
Stays within itself
Although the last reviewer has some valid points, I think he was a little too harsh in the review. I don't think the movie was ever intended to compete for Best Picture.
The life of a simple street gang during those times was not always exciting and full of life.
The movie is simple. Yet it is still entertaining. From a nostalgic view it's interesting to watch these actors before they hit it big.
I agree there was not a whole lot of character development, but there was just enough to keep it reasonably interesting.
It's certainly not a GREAT movie, but it's not a bad one either. It's worth watching on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
