Sorjonen (2016)
Is Finnish police procedure really this naive?
I watched three seasons of a show with teenagers not only acting like brats but also actively involved in cases. A unit full of secrets with little communication. Obsolete technology, there has been 10 years of CSI to teach the writers something, anything about general procedure. It is mind boggling to believe that this country is so haphazard in their gathering of evidence and interrogation techniques. The main character thrown out of an interrogation room because he called a suspect a liar!! Perhaps everything is lost in translation or perhaps this is the result of sloppy writing with very little investigation. I only bothered because Ilkka Villi is so easy on the eyes. This show is frustrating as hell.
Vanquish (2021)
Australia has free health care--Huge Plot Hole
It is amazing that the hero, who is Australian and played by an Australian didn't think to mention this to whomever wrote this mindless drivel. Did Ruby find the chance to work beside Morgan Freeman too enticing to include reality into the story? Don't waste your time on people who can't bother to do any research, they prefer to insult their audience.
Cursed (2020)
Trying to Please Everyone
This mess is what happens when you ignore the basic mythology and create something that attempts to engage every audience imaginable. The hero, thank goodness, is a not an anorexic bobble head but a nice athletic girl with good acting abilities. These were good actors let down by a story in disarray. To make this shorter, she is a fairy, but not just a fairy but a summoner of her people, cursed by a demon, given the magical Excalibur becomes a kick ass warrior and winds up being the daughter of Merlin. Her best friend is a black lesbian. Her friends are Gawain, Arthur, Percival and in the end Lancelot, all that is missing is Toto and the Emerald City. The inclusion of people of colour into main elements and leads of stories is long due. I am old and believe people of all genders, colours and sexual identities should be represented but adding them just to add them muddles the story. If producers wish inclusion then make it inclusion with meaning. Marginalised groups deserve to have a meaningful representation and not be just a grab for money. A good story sells itself and while I am nearly 70 I don't care about your colour, religion, sexual preference or identity all I want is to be engaged with the story. This did not happen. I kept waiting for the man behind the curtain.
