Flight of the Doves (1971)
Underrated Ron Moody
Dated now but nevertheless a charming British comedy. Super cast all round and a real joy to watch. Mr Moody is fantastic and holds your attention like no other. No big budget here but filmed on location and acted well. It's a glimpse of the past and a wonderful view it is.
Spring and Port Wine (1970)
High on the list of classic British movies
A true view of working class northern England of the past. Mason rules like a king over his family, as he does with his acting as he heads a super cast. This can't be faulted.
Quartet (2012)
Such a great opportunity missed
Dustin Hoffman did ever so well to assemble such a fine cast and the set locations were excellent. But that's just about the only good points to be made.
What Tom Courtenay and Maggie Smith are doing in this pointless tripe I'll never know? This is a cast of top actors who deserve better. Such a poor story line, bad script and nothing really going on to hold your attention. I made it to the uneventful very end, but I don't know how or why? Wet Sunday afternoon film when there's nothing better to do. My copy of this DVD is now in the charity box.
Big chance missed Dustin, stick to acting you are so good at it.
