Scream VI (2023)
What a miss for a new Scream movie.
Please explain why this deserves a 7? IT's a travesty of a movie that mocks itself while talking about the killer and franchises and follow ups and prequels and requels and whatever. You've got a story with some characters that survive previsouly movies, more new characters and a villain. Explain me when you give at 8/9/10 where and why do you think it's good this? You think good villains are Bond Villains that explain everything before sticking a knife in you? In the last half an hour you've got a killer than explains everything and could have killed our main characters multiple times. You've got stabs wounds that do no dmanage. You've got characters that survive after being stabbed a dozen times (in the torso( lol while others one is sufficient in the same place. This movie brings nothing new. It's a safe approach where every character that matters survive and the only people that are killed are people not that important if you want to make a sequel.
You want to make a good scream movie? Make the damn main character the killer after all of this drama and kill other important main characters. That way people feel invested. Not this... this was boring.
Jiok (2021)
Hollywood, please learn from Korea
SoumikBanerjee25 review is just spot on. When is hollywood going to learn that remake stuff is not the way to go; when is hollywood going to learn not to pander to some indiidual or ideologies. Second korean show that went to top on netflix, and I am sorry people don't know about crashlanding on your or my mister among others that really good. All of them may deal with social issues BUT never really fist you in the face over and over and over.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Zombies with a hint of Social commentary
After watching this movie I agree that this is okayish zombie horror movie mix with ocean's eleven BUT with political correcteness... Some were okay like - Of course this is a allegory to covid 19. I believe there will be other movies with this kind of message - anti-covid or covid-favor (in terms of political power+restrictions and so on)
It's watchable but cringe at times.
The zombies are cool, the characters two women, two mexicans, one german, one black guy go to a bar full of zombies.. the rest is history.
Yeah I know hollywood - white guys, police forces, army guys are bad.
Easy Peasy Japanesy LOL
oh no, you can't say that,
oh but I am japanese
... well maybe in that case he can LOL COMIC! (that's the way we now restringe ourselves...)
The Hunt (2020)
In the culture "war" is the middle people that suffer
In the cultural war between the far left democrats that wage against the supposedly far right and trump is the middle people that suffer. That democrats and republicans who swing one way or the other OR are not cringe.
This movie is depicting the cultural war that exists in america nowadays. The democrats are waging a war not only with themselves BUT also with everybody else - in this movie you can see that in their interactions with one another. They are never in agreement - the "black" vs "african americans" ; the cultural appropriation of the Kimono per example; the not inclusing of a black republican because well he is black and so on, the "guys" gender stuff. They are depicted as a snake that eats his/her own tail.
The republicans - the ones who are being hunted are what you expect from a normal news media - rednecks who are either racist, homophobes and every other bad thing you can imagine - no redeeming quality whatsoever. They are there to be killed
The Refugees stuff was very entertaining...
Spoilers NOW:
Our main character as we find out, well we don't find out, what political party she is but we know that she is representing the middle ground. Those who are undecided; un-interested and so on.
In the end we find out that she is there by mistake and so she is the battleground of right and left and yet she had to suffer. This represents how the far left alienates not only the republicans but other moderate democrats.
In the end, this movie could have been made as a propagana against the far-right or far left but in my humble opinion is a critique of every spectre (more the far-left) maybe as warning because some of those actors for what I can understand are democrats.
Either way, I enjoy the show. It's very interesting. Not that cringe. I bet the news won't enjoy because in a way it criticize their beliefs.
The animal farm reference it's aweome.
3 nen A gumi -Imakara minasan wa, Hitojichi desu- (2019)
This is how you make a excellent social media critique.
This is a japanese show so a lot of people will never even contemplate watch it. I can understand that. Maybe, if it become famous, hollywood will adapt it? Probably not since it critizices social media which hollywood uses to control the masses..
Maybe netflix will buy it? Again probably not.
If you want to watch it, please bear in mind that this is a japanese show not us or European so don't go expecting the same mentality. In the essential this is a show about trying to find out who the killer was. In the end, after each episode or so, you will understand that this is much more than that. It's a show about social media critique, about young teens mentality that are destroying lives. It's about people not even thinking before typing in the internet which will stay for good. It's about fake news. It's about thinking mentality and the dark side of the world wide web. It's very refresh although a bit long.
I really enjoy it - if you want something different from "white man bad"; "orange-man bad" and other forms, please do so. This is a critique without racial, ethnic or gender bias.
