Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Just... wow. See it in IMAX
Old school filmography under modern expectations. Everything the first one aspired to be but lacked to begin with. Kudos to Tom Cruise and his craziness. Keep 'em coming Tom.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Big fan? Then you probably already know...
I just had to post a review. As many, I'm a huge fan of the first one, then it's downhill from there (although I did really like the second and felt the third one was reasonably ok). What to expect now, 20 years later? My expectations were skyscraper high, then after the first reviews popped up, I realized it was going to be bad. Honestly, you can tell by the first 5 or so minutes. It is just messy. Some of the visuals are improved, but that is as much positivism as one can sum up for the movie. All else is... wrong. Does not fit into the same world we once knew for the trilogy. Some of the "funny" scenes are downright bad. I would feel embarrassed to approve them in the Final Cut. Overall, had this not been in any way linked to the previous movies, one might even spend a rainy afternoon watching it and get something in return... maybe. With such a history behind it, man oh man is this disappointing. There is not a single memorable line or sequence. Nothing. Even the fighting is lame. And the many, many references from the past movies make no sense... those are all imprinted in our memory, no need to go back so explicitly. Just like Terminator was finished on the second one, the Matrix was done somewhere in the early 2000s. Go see it if you have to, just lower your expectations as much as possible and try to watch it until the end.
Time Lapse (2014)
My first IMDb review...
I think this is my first IMDb review. I'll keep it short as I feel I've lost a lot already with this movie. The good reviews are either fake or people have gone crazy or something. I enjoy variety enough and tend to think of myself as open minded in terms of genres and budget range. However, despite the movie concept be interesting enough to warrant all sorts of ideas, the execution is so insanely stupid regarding every character decision it is just over the top unnerving. Every single big decision by every one of the characters, in every scene, is simply idiotic to say the least. I don't want to "spoil" it for anyone who plans on watching it, but if you were able to see into the future and planned to become rich with it, what would you chose: a)place a winning lottery bet or b)place numerous small winning bets elsewhere, to a point where you raise suspicion as to how information privy you are ? Can you guess what our characters here do?
