Jojo Rabbit (2019)
How did it not recieve best picture?
I rarely ever give 10 stars, as I reserve it for movies that are essentially perfect, that changing any flaws would make it worse. Jojo Rabbit is one of the 4 movies I consider in this category. Its fun, emotional, deep and action packed at the same time. Scarlet Johanson plays Jojos mother brilliatnly, just as Taika plays imaginary Hitler. It is really hard to say anything negative about the movie, every character is really well scripted, the story is amazing, the only negative I can say that it may seem like it is suitable for kids (under 12) but it is NOT, so do not watch it as a family movie sunday afternoon. Other than that best movie since the Dark Knight.
Gisaengchung (2019)
A good film but not best of the year
Parasite tells a quite surreal story which could absolutely happen. The characters are realistic, I liked how nobody is a clear good guy or bad guy. On the other side maybe you need to be the part of Korean culture to fully appreciate it, but for me it didn't hold that emotional drama that many other viewers liked. It wasn't that funny in the comedic scenes, and other than the social cass divide which is seen in many other movies it wasnt really deep either. Overall a good movie, but did not deserve the oscars it got, especially considering Jojo Rabbit was another contender for best picture, and in my opinion blew out Parasite from the water in every regards
Batman Ninja (2018)
Expected Gotham by gaslight type alternate batman, got a power rangers knock off
Who the hell wrote the script? why does DC sell their IPs for incompetent lunatics? Who tought its a good idea to make a Batman movie with power rangers robots in ancient japan? These were the questions that came to my mind after watching this movie. The visuals are pretty good, voice acting is okayis, but the plot... its so bad it hurts, it feels like it was written by a 10 year old kid, who wanted to bring is fanfiction to live. the character motivations are a total mess, way to many "convenient" plot elements, and just sheer ridiculousness. Worst batman cartoon, and if not for Batman and Robin easily worst Batman fiml, but its pretty close still.
The Rain (2018)
A disaster both in the film and for us
I love a movie or series from teh prespective of the bad guys, like Scarface or teh Godfather. But this series done it unintentionally, trying to pose tha main characters as teh heros, while they are almost all terrible people. The main character Rasmus is a whiny annoying asshole who constantly asks stupid and unnecessary questions and literally dooms the world to die because he would have to die for it, but wait, he actually wants to die because his girlfriend that she knows for 3 days and talked like 30 minutes dies, because of his carelessness. The other main character his sister is so dumb that she indirectly kills her mother in the first episode when she opens the safe bunker while people are all infected outside, to check if its tehir dad (who has acces, so can open teh door). The other characters include a nerd who "accidently" suffocates a little girl because he is scared, an asshole who whants his friend to shoot everyone, and tries to kill one of his teammates because he got emotional (not even really worked up) a religious fanatic girl, who also indirectly killed her mom (less of her fault) All in all I never hated main characters in any movie or series, like in The Rain the writting is so bad a 5 year old could do better, everyone is asking stupid questions constantly, and doing the worst possible thing they can. Only redeeming fact was thee supposedly bad guy called "strangers" actually wasnt bad guys, just they were forced in teh situation. And yes, I watched the whole first season, so I can make sure that I can give an actual opinion. Only watch this if you want to punch someone on the screen.
Justice League: Gods and Monsters (2015)
A good superhero flick with a darker tone
A good twist on the old formula After watching DCs newest animated film I have to say i am impressed. They took the well know characters of Batman, Wonder Woman and superman, and they changed it just a bit, which resulted in a lo more dark and gritty justice league. The characters are well thought of, not acting based on clichés, and the voice acting is really good. The story is good but based on the 3 pre-released short on you tube I was - expecting even more, especially after watching super-mans short with Braniac, which is genius. The twist of the story is a bit expected, and quite similar to the standard Justice lord story arc, but that was good, so fits here as well. I recommend watching it to all comic lover except to those who hate when the lore of the comics changed (if you hated iron man 3 because of the Mandarin don't watch it)
