The Act of Killing (2012)
The act of killing
This documentary is about people that used to kill a lot of people for talking bad about their government. They are basically reacting what they did in their past lives. This movie is both sad and unfair, the people that would be killed for saying one bad thing about the government were known as "communists" and they would get brutally beaten or how ever they decided to take their lives. The people that fought against the "communists" were mainly younger men and women, they had about 3 million soldiers ready to take down any and all who talk badly about their government. They controlled everything, even the papers. If they wanted someone to look bad they would lie on the papers and make everyone hate them. Its amazing to me how calm they were while talking about what they've done in the past, they have probably killed over hundreds of people but talk and react it as if they weren't killing people, i would have thought they would feel bad or show some emotion to the situation. I also cant believe people actually played the parts in the documentary, because me personally wouldn't want to do it.
The things that happened in this documentary was shocking, but it also opens up your mind to see what really happens in this world. Also that a lot of this shows how unfair it is in other parts of the world, and we should be glad we have the freedom of speech. Id recommend this documentary to anyone who is interested in stuff like this.
Cutie and the Boxer (2013)
Paint Boxer
This documentary is about an old couple that shares the same passion for art. I think the purpose of this documentary is to inspire people to do what they love, and never give up on what they love and who they love. I think it was a inspirational documentary because even when he didn't get to sell anything he still never stopped making his art pieces and sculptures. It wasn't the best documentary but it was interesting to see his ways of art as well as her ways of art. I've never seen anybody do art with boxing gloves, that was the most interesting. Id recommend this documentary to anyone who likes art or sculptures. I think it would be good ideas for artists.
Al midan (2013)
A Fight For Rights
This documentary is about people fighting and standing up for what they want and believe in. I think the purpose of this documentary is to stand up for what you believe in, and have the courage to stand up for you and fight for what you and everybody else needs. I didn't know that this happened to people and I didn't know some people in the world were denied access to basic human rights, it's sad and cruel what those people have to go through. They all risked a lot by standing and camping at the square; they were all breaking rules and defying the people in charge. This documentary showed a lot of courage and strength. It showed how strongly people care about their rights and how strongly they wanted to be treated like equals. I'd recommend this documentary to anyone who's interested in these types of things.
Twenty Feet from Stardom (2013)
The Background Of Singing
I think the purpose of this documentary is to show people what life was like being a background singer back then. This documentary showed us 6 background singers with amazing voices that had a dream to be one of the greatest singers. They were different stories with similarities, but almost all of them wanted the same thing, to be the main singer. I liked this documentary because it showed a lot of strength, passion, and hope. They all kept dreaming and never gave up on what they loved. It told a lot of good stories and a lot of good songs with a lot of great musicians. Id recommend this documentary to anyone who loves music or anyone that sings.
Dirty Wars (2013)
Killing Innocent Families
This documentary Is called Dirty Wars made by Jeremy Scahill, he is an Investigative Reporter and in this documentary he focuses in on war being fought abroad. I think the purpose of this documentary is to shed light to all the terrible things going on in this world that people aren't aware of like innocent families being blown up for no reason. I also believe he made this to show people that everything in the media isn't true and you shouldn't believe everything you hear on the news. This was about the secret wars that are taking place. Also, that the government thinks they can kill whoever they want when they want If they think they are guilty. The trailer made it look like it would be real terrorists. I've learned that there is a lot of things in this world a lot of people don't know about , and most of the time the people responsible don't get punished for it. Also a lot of lies are told to make the viewer's believe their lies and do what they want them to do. It was a good documentary with good information and facts . It shed light on a lot of unknown issues and I'm sure a lot of people will like this film.
