A Realistic Love Story
26 March 2005
I really enjoyed this movie because it of its simplicity. It's a unique chick flick, that's for sure. A lot of American chick flicks these days just aren't realistic such as Chasing Liberty, How to Lose a Guy in 10 days, Maid in Manhattan etc. The characters in those flicks are either wealthy/well-off or later become well off. The characters in Sound of Colors are common middle class people who unexpectedly find their love. I think it was really cute how Ming and Hoi Yeuk came together. The thing is they initially didn't have feelings for each other (neither hate nor love at first sight). They fell in love after Ming was blind and got to know each other. Dong and Jie also fell in love after traveling together a lot in the subway. Everything just fits together naturally. This movie also has a very diverse soundtrack including French, Korean, and Mandarin tracks. Tony Leung and Miriam Yeung sing the lovely dute "Maze" (mi gong) and Elva sings "Subway" (di xia tie), both songs are awesome.
