Back in the day...

Nostalgia, nostalgia, and maybe a bit of nostalgia. ugh, words cannot describe how way, way back this movie brought me. The amount that I could relate to the lead character was uncanny.I think its safe to say that we've allll been there. I think most films that try to depict coming of age are way to obvious that it is an adult writing the script. But with this picture, this is as real as it gets. Funny, charming, and seriously entertaining, a must-see for families, and teens, or anyone wanting to go back for a wild ride into their youth. I even got a little teary-eyed during certain parts. The lead actor was great, Annasophia Robb was also very charming as well. You will regret missing this one. Sam Rockwell has a great/hilarious mentoring performance. I'd love to see more of all of the actors, because most of the them, except for Toni Collette and steve carrell, aren't seen much, or at least as much as they should be with their talent.

You can't miss this film

Warning: Spoilers
This film went over everybody's heads when it came out. The reality is, it is definitely one of Lynch's best films. One of the most dark, experiment, and boundary pushing for sure. So terrifying at times I couldn't even bare it. Sheryl Lee's performance is giving me goosebumps just thinking about it. So operatic, so dire, so raw. Sure, it is different from the show, but that isn't an issue because its beautiful. The end of the film when Laura Palmer is being killed is up there with my favorite scenes in any film. The way Lynch uses bright spotlights to increase intensity is so original and natural. The music, the pace, the very disturbing uncertain feeling you get for Laura throughout the entire film makes it truly bone-rattling. If you like Lynch, or if you think you might even maybe like Lynch, you HAVE to see this film. So underrated and under-admired.

Not what most might expect

By the end of the film, I thought it was a cheesy clichéd 80s crime thriller. But then I realized all of the films that I was comparing it to, copied off of this film. This film set the bar for the 80s crime thriller, and the crime thriller in general. Of course, it is undeniably 80s. Wang Chung provided the soundtrack. However, Friedken does not disappoint with his chase scenes. Chase scenes that some films today can't even hold a candle to. What adrenaline, there are not many films that can get your heart beating as fast as this one can. William Peterson gives a truly dynamite performance. But, personally, I believe Willem Dafoe stole the show. Nobody does the criminal like he does. Jesus Christ, he was so evil! This is a film that would not let me look away. I really was mesmerized by it. Friedken, thanks to the French Connection and this Film, is officially the king of the chase. What a wild ride, definitely worth a view.

A Surprise
18 March 2014
I wanted to hate the cutesy plot and ideas of the film. I wanted to hate the overdone coming of age style of these types of films. But jeez, with that cast, and with those original ideas, I fell in love. I really had a pre-conceived notion about this picture, but the actor playing Craig, Zach Galifiankis, and Emma Roberts really changed my mind. AMAZING PERFORMANCES for a teen movie. Way, way more depth than you would expect. A very interesting quirky story that I believe will definitely benefit teens to hear. Emma Roberts is breathtaking and was, in my opinion, one of the highlights of the film. But then there's also Zach Galifiankis' performance. i would LOOOVE to see him take more serious roles like this. Sure, there's no denying that he is one of the most talented comedic actors working today(arguably the best), but he gave such a believable, honest, beautiful performance. It really took me by surprise. Highly Recommend this picture.

An Up-and-Coming Indie Classic
18 March 2014
I happened to have had the pleasure to see the pre-screening of the film. Boy, what a treat that was. The film is set to be released on the 21st of this month, there's no telling what is going to happen once it hits the public. Such a well-crafter, original, and moving film this was. The directors and writer obviously had a higher message or higher meaning intended when making this film. I really couldn't get enough of this picture when I first saw it. The film's pace was so menacing, it went against all clichés and formulas that I would normally expect, the plot twist came from NOWHERE. I was on the edge of my seat, I was trembling, I couldn't help myself; I was a mess. What an experience. Worth multiple viewings, a thinking piece. Great cast as well. This is definitely make a serious impact on the genre. They don't make thrillers like this anymore.
