Harry Potter: Witchcraft Repackaged (2001)
Pathetic attempt at justifying fears
This movie cannot possibly have been made by people who read the books. There are Christian ideas strewn throughout the Harry Potter series - intentionally or not. There is no logic employed, simply bad footage of people dressed in black cloaks around a cauldron while a voice-over person makes an argument that has no basis either in the Bible or in logic.
If you tell your children that magic does not exist in this world, then of course that is a lie. However, if you are raising Christian children and want to be sure that they understand what is going on, you must tell them the absolute truth, and make clear the distinctions between the kind of magic used in Harry Potter and the occult magic that is used in our world. Your job is to be honest about the distinctions between occult magic, forbidden to Christians, and incantational magic, used in Harry Potter, which can symbolize our own abilities.
It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown (1984)
One of the best!
Flashbeagle has to be one of the funniest specials - at least as good as the holiday specials, and about a million times better than Bon Voyage.
It's basically a bunch of shorts linked together with the common thread of Snoopy sneaking out at night to a disco and returning tired in the morning. The shorts are hilarious - some great ones with Peppermint Patty and Marcy in class, and a few with Sally as well.
Snoopy's killer dance moves were based on a real person dancing - the animators pretty much drew over the frames of the dancer. The making-of special I saw said that this is one of the first times this method had been employed. Just a bit of trivia. :) The music is catchy, the show is funny - it's all-around Peanuts goodness. You really can't go wrong with Flashbeagle.
