Aranyak (2021)
I sure hope there's a season 2
It was a pretty decent series. There were both good and bad things about the show.
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!!
Let me talk about the good things first.
1)The performances were excellent
2)The production design and cinematography were apt
3)The main plot was interesting, it kept me on the edge of my seat for the most part. Even though it was a complicated story, I loved how the mystery unfolded
4) The character development and the development of the interpersonal relationship between the two main characters were well executed
5) I loved how the show teased about the existence of the leopard man and magic mushrooms in the end
Now, the bad stuff.
1) There were multiple sub-plots, some of which were underdeveloped and led nowhere
2) There were some issues with consistency and plausibility of some of the plot points
3) The show took a long time developing the story, however, it ended abruptly. There were a lot of unanswered questions in the end like what happens to Angad, Omi, the female politician who gets attacked, do they survive? What happens to the other politician who Kasturi arrests but then leaves to chase after Omi? What happens to Nandan, what do the villagers do with him? Who was blue rose, why did the husband keep on supplying info to her, was she relevant to the plot in any way other than just being a random person the husband was having an affair with? What happens to the corrupt policeman who was helping the politician? Unless there's a plan for a season 2 that ties some of the loose ends, this seems like an unsatisfactory ending
To conclude, even though it had its weakness, this was an above average thriller series with an interesting plot and beautiful sets. I sure hope there's a season 2.
