Silent Night (2023)

Total lack of dialogue was bothersome
26 December 2023
A whole 1hr 40 mins without dialogue. I don't understand the choice for this. The wife didn't say good-bye when she left, no discussion about when the Xmas tree is coming down or why they're having trouble taking it down, superficial 1 line texts that are supposed to fill things in... This movie was dull and hard to get through and the absolute lack of talking didn't help.

They never showed us any of the gang member involved in the shoot out that killed his son so is he just going around killing ALL gang members?

And how is he paying for a year's worth of training and all the equipment he needed to carry out his revenge?

The plot just doesn't make sense either.

So disappointing
27 September 2023
This documentary was very disappointing. Firstly, it could've been 2 episodes or even just 1 long one. They spent so much time discussing things not related to the actual case and the way they kept circulating back on the story rather than continuing to move forward was excruciating. Everyone interviewed was so dull and crusty (except the defence lawyer) so again made the story very dry and move even slower. By the time I could tell there was going to be no resolution to the story it was too late and I was too far in. I hate to say it but this was very dull to watch. Even with no real resolution I'm not left wanting more.

Really weak and not thrilling
22 September 2021
Everything about this movie was really weak. The acting, the writing, the sound wasn't so great either. It's called the Alpine but we're there fabatsic shots of the outdoor scenery? No.

The whole movie centered around really lame relationship drama from college. There was nothing thrilling about this movie at all. Watching it felt like watching highschool students argue about who slept with who. The ending was rushed and total garbage.

I wish I'd sifted through the very fake reviews and didn't waste my time watching this.

Pretty weak and not scary
22 August 2021
I really don't like when it takes almost half the movie before anything supernatural or horrific takes place in a horror film. The build up was too slow and not captivating. The background story was flimsy and boring and did not make me want to watch till the end to find out why things are happening.

Weak horror
7 June 2021
This movie couldn't decide if it was a drama about on campus sexual assault or a suspense or horror or what. The horror took too long to actually get started and once it did it wasn't really worth the wait.

Misses the mark
23 February 2021
I had high hopes for this series. Maybe my hopes were too high? The first episode was hard to get through. So much of it seemed very forced. The constant misogyny, tension between Clarice and her superiors (what's with the uber controlling psychiatrist?) flashbacks to Buffalo Bill but not Hannibal. It didn't leave me wanting more or curious to see what's next for Clarice. It's just another crime procedural show. What a shame that the creators are wasting such an intriguing world and character. If only they could've had some of the writers or director from Hannibal perhaps this would be better. CBS needs to drop this and Hannibal needs to come back with an appearance by Clarice. Thats the only way the character will come to life.

No conclusion
23 February 2021
The story was pretty good. A couple of the characters were a little over the top and hard to watch. Was really hoping for a conclusion to this story but guess I'll have to wait for season 2. With so much build up but then no satisfying ending to wrap up any of the storylines that emerged I was left disappointed. (When will I get to see awful Mary Barlow get her comeuppance?) If I'd known there wouldn't be much of a conclusion I probably wouldn't have watched.

Won't be adding to my yearly Xmas watch list
23 November 2020
This movie took itself too seriously. It says it's an action comedy but I found myself laughing here and there but then realizing oh they're being serious. I was hoping for some dark comedy but it wasn't happening. The plot was being pulled in 2 directions. I don't know which was the main plot line, Santa being indebted to the government or the boy who wanted Santa dead. I was hoping for more Bad Santa than Die Hard but this movie was neither.

Difficult to finish
27 October 2020
This movie was hard to watch and even harder to finish. So many many plot holes had me yelling out 'wtf'. This is America. How did no one pull out a gun at some point in the movie? Am I really expected to believe the female main character is that daft? Had she any brain cells the film would've been 30 mins long. And to boot the movie definitely fails the Bechdal test. Just no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Unclear, pretentious, and absolutely not a horror film
8 September 2020
This should really not have been labeled as horror as that is quite misleading. It was more musical drama with a touch of psychological thriller (maybe not really). The whole movie was so pretentious and full of itself. So much dialogue and academia name dropping, it was hard to keep focus and care what was going on. The 2nd half of the movie went to a whole other planet and by then it was too late to try and understand or again care what was going on. Such a shame because it seems like some interesting concepts could be explored. I think it's a bad sign when many of the top scored reviews are just condescending explanations about why the movie was so fantastic and why we're all plebs for not understanding or caring for it.

Dry and uninteresting
29 August 2020
This movie was not comedic or thrilling. What little mystery there may have been was never resolved or really dweleved into. It had a very slow pace and was very dry. There wasn't much of an ending or resolution. There really wasn't much of anything going on for most of the movie. I honestly had to watch on high speed to get through it. I wish I had read the reviews before watching because it was actually a waste of time.

Obnoxious
6 April 2020
This little girl is beyond obnoxious. It's ridiculous how she runs around all night long, skips schools, goes through people's things all with out any repercussions. Both her parents are home all day but never know what she is up to. She is so nosey and annoying. Maybe if the character were in her teens it would be a bit more believable. The attempts at 'girl power' moments throughout are so forced and feeble. This show left me exasperated and not wanting more.

Talk about a Greek Tragedy
10 April 2015
I honestly think some of the positive reviews on here were written by staff or interns of the show. Because they are delusional. This show was so awful I had to take the time to write my first review. First off, I absolutely am not expecting anything from Syfy to be at par with the likes of a GoT or 300 movie but common. This was just insulting to Syfy viewers. Anyone claiming the green screen shots to be 'epic' or 'visually creative' must not watch very much television or movies. I can appreciate and very much enjoy good digitally enhanced scenery but this was not that. I think they would've had better results if they'd contracted out the green screen scenes to a local college. It was just so fake and made getting into the story very difficult. Which leads to another issue, the story. The characters and their backgrounds were never properly introduced which left me not caring about the outcome of any of them. The writing is so disjointed. Why did Hero say he was going to take back all 3 "oracles" back but then, when the young one ran away he completely forgets what HE HAD JUST SAID and leaves the 2 older "oracles". It's like they didn't even try to put together a juicy captivating story. I really can't believe Syfy messed up so badly on this one. Considering they've got good shows like Helix and 12 Monkeys with great production value and writing how did this stinker slip through. Such a shame because I was looking forward to a new great Greek mythology show. Guess I'll have to keep waiting.
