Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
You come out of the cinema feeling good
See it at a IMAX if you can this film deserves the big screen. I hadn't seen the first one but I was aware of it through clips etc so I didn't know if this was my kind of film. I'm so glad we went to see it, the story galloped along so well there was no gaps with boring plot filler, the arial action scenes were so good you felt you were there with them. I won't mention the ending so as not to spoil it. My way of defining a good film is would I buy it and watch it again and the answer is a resounding yes, I would!
Hitmen (2020)
One star but should have been zero
I'm sorry I can't review the whole show because I turned it off after twenty minutes and made sure the Sky box couldn't series link it, I did not find one moment in this that I could say was funny. How ever much this cost to make it was money down the drain. The normal way of writing would be to hook the viewer with the first episode and expect them to tune back in for the second one, that failed miserably.
Thunderbirds (2004)
A change of heart
I am of an age to remember watching the original and in fact watched a lot of Gerry Anderson programmes, Twizzel, Four feather falls, Torchy etc. This adaptation I thought was going to be more adult based than the child version it turned out to be.
However! After watching it a second time I discovered a new found appreciation for it, Johnathon Frakes got the camaraderie of the charactures just right and this film now is considered by me to be very good, I would quite easily it watch again. Johnathon has a very good directors eye, nicely done sir.
He Who Dares (2014)
I didn't like it!
The title hooked me and I bought this DVD on the strength of the description. This film is not worthy to use this title. The real SAS must have been rolling around the floor laughing at the antics of this bunch of no hopers. The story is very similar to a certain film set in a tower with a off duty cop trying to rescue a hostage. The story had a huge potential to make this a good movie but it let itself down from the first scene and went rapidly downhill after that. If I hadn't spent # pounds of my hard earned money on this I would have turned off after the first ten minutes. If you want to see something better then buy Who Dares Wins with Lewis Collins, it's ten times better than this effort.
