Murder on the Moon (1989)
Worth Watching!
It's really too bad this movie was first aired the week before the Berlin Wall fell. It was a very well done mystery involving a murder on a commercial American moonbase located in Soviet lunar territory. Because of the jurisdiction problems, Bartok (CIA) and a KGB major were both sent to investigate.
They found more than they bargained for. Besides the original murder, there were others all aimed at covering up a truth both Soviet and Americans wanted revealed. Fascinating. Well worth watching.
The detail in this film is great. How would people live on a lunar mining station? The bar converts to other things, there's a library, and the quarters, while not spacious, are adequate. They didn't ignore the air situation or the gravity. And they DIDN'T have people exploding in decompression like they did in Outland. Very well done.
The Bride (1985)
THE BRIDE and Sting
Although this movie was fairly forgettable, Sting was not. He was the perfect image of a Victorian gentleman, but ruthless as hell. As Baron Charles Frankenstein he shattered the image of the mad scientist creating monsters in a dark lab. For his performance, you should see this movie.
The other high point in this movie is the sexiest nude scene you'll ever see. The lighting is a masterpiece and allows only a glimpse of flesh here and there as Jennifer Beal walks naked down a grand staircase and across an entry way and into the parlor. The flashing lightning and the candles were so carefully placed. I keep this movie in my collection to show (1) how to make a handsome guy into a really cruel villain and (2) to show that masterpiece of lighting in that nude scene. You really need to see it.
