Body Count (1998)
Give Caruso a chance!
The movie itself is not bad. An art robbery gone wrong, four delinquents on the run to (where else?) Miami. Once they have to be together 24/7 it shows that the main figures have a homicidial tendency towards each other. Especially drug-crazed Chino & driver Hobbs clash more often than not. A good opportunity for David Caruso to show the wide range of his acting talent, which comes here much more to life than as H. Caine in CSI. Was this movies ever shown on the silver screen or did it go straight to video-sales? Unfortunately, some-one in actor-heaven seems to hate Caruso - otherwise it would have been a box-office success after its first showing.
Black Point (2002)
It is all about Caruso
It gets 8 point because of Carusos performance. High performing as usual the Ex-NYPD-cop gets the best out of an otherwise very thin plot.Ex-marine loses his beloved daughter & falls in love with the woman of a high-rolling gangster. The woman - desperately wanting to leave her abusive husband - uses the ex-marine to get away from her marriage. Unfortunately the plot gets stuck in the sand when the woman changes her mind and decides to be on the ex-marines side AGAIN. How desperate must a guy be to take a woman back who put the wool over his eyes and made him a target for her enraged husband? The love scene was very awkward. I mean - having seen other Caruso movies I think the guy has some issues with kissing before camera. Anyway the guy's got so much potential and wastes it in a B-movie
Session 9 (2001)
An excellent movie getting better every time you see it
The first time I saw Session 9 I was left to wonder what happened in the end - did Phil kill Hank and Gordon whacked out the rest of the crew members? Because why would Phil be so outraged that "that punk" (Gordons nephew) claimed to have seen Hank ? Because he knew that Hank was not alive anymore? And WHY was Phil holding this carpet knife in his hands if he was not going to murder someone? On the other hand - it is very entertaining to see how Phil was talking about Gordon behind Gordon's back (sort of mobbing him)... After I watched the movie for 6 times I began to see trough the story and I have to admit it is one of the best movies I have seen in years. It was good to see David Caruso - not in his role of the ever-avenging brooding cop (H. Caine) - but as a constantly swearing guy from next door with a wounded ego as big as the place around him ... great performance David!
