SAO is one of those animes that become very addictive after the first couple of episodes. I was quite impressed by the first arc which takes place inside Sword Art Online as it involved great action, some humour, a good female protagonist and a dash of romance towards the end. Sure there are plot holes that people complain about, but I enjoyed the anime despite these, filling them in with my own theories. There was a high quantity of feels in the last few episodes, which I have not encountered in an anime before (probably because I watch anime with a large amount action and comedy) which surprised me. Overall the first arc was AWESOME! The second arc, Fairy Dance, which takes place in the world of Alfheim Online, I wouldn't have watched if I wasn't so concerned about Asuna. If you really want to know what happens to her, just watch the last few episodes. Be warned, however, the main villain is disturbingly pervy. If you are determined to watch the second half be prepared for the cringeworthy relationship problem between Kirito and his sister as well. The Alfheim arc is fairly terrible, except for a few nice battle scenes... I wish I had just googled what happens.
Apparently there is another season out that has yet to be dubbed, but the end of the ALO arc doesn't involve a cliffhanger, so there is no reason to continue if you are as annoyed with the anime as I am.
7 stars overall and 9 for the first half.
