Civil War (2024)
War Is Bad...M'kay?
This is not a great movie. You will feel like s*** after watching this movie. The story of the press is pretty awful in this and it's intertwined with some really praise-worthy, fake war cinematography and effects. It was fun seeing the war scenes in Atmos, and is the only reason I gave five stars out of ten. That, and...Jessie Plemons. I suspect camo and red glasses will be selling out around Halloween. Plemons is literally the only good actor in this and that came as a huge surprise to me with the big names in this. Also, the soundtrack isn't too bad in this either. Again, Dolby Atmos was sweet, but not sweet enough to save this movie from the horrible story and acting.
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
The Best Psychological Thriller of All Time!
An impactful movie that leaves the viewer teetering on the edge of sanity!
I saw this movie for the first time in the mid-late 90's at a sleep over. My cousin had a bunch of teammates over from his AAU baseball team. Darin Ruf was one of my cousins' teammates who stayed over that night (long before he became a Mets Legend!)
Anyway, my cousin had a @ 60" box set big-screen at the time and a living room full of about 6 guys decided to watch Silence Of The Lambs that night. I knew very little about the movie going in and was terrified when I saw the first close-up of Anthony Hopkins in his cell. I ended up being the only guy left awake from about half the movie til the end. I'm sure I didn't get much sleep at all that night!
Demme's use of close-ups created the creepiest environment I've ever seen in a movie. The story played out on film just as good, if not better, than in the book. The complexity of Lector's escape is one of the best twists ever. The night vision used during the climax is chef's kiss. Sir Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster delivered Oscar worthy performances and the soundtrack was absolutely chilling.
The terrifying impact of this movie has stayed with me over the years and remains one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. The fear this move creates inside of the viewer's mind in unmatched. I will forever have Hannibal Lector's close-ups etched into my warped fragile little mind.

A Head Scratcher...
This film is quite dark. Definitely leave the kiddos at home for this one. The audience I was with, found itself snickering at the absurdity of some of the events that take place though. Thomasin McKenzie does a great job playing the awkward main character who can be darkly comedic at times. I thoroughly enjoyed her New England accent in this. She will most certainly win more acting awards in her future.
Anne Hathaway is very pleasing to the eye as a blonde in this and her character is perfect for this noir film. She does not disappoint.
The movie does a fantastic job of keeping the viewer wondering what will happen. Like most other reviews have disclosed, there is a chilling twist. It sends the movie in a completely different direction that is almost guaranteed to be unpredictable to anyone seeing it for the first time.

Amazing achievement in filmmaking!
Cast perfectly. Script delivery was best I've ever seen. Beautiful cinematography and soundtrack. Incredibly original story. I left the movie feeling like I had just lived through it. This film will be studied for years in how to elicit tangible emotions in an audience. Give Nic Cage an Oscar for what could be his best performance ever.

Another summon the demons movie
I rated this a 3 cuz that's the magic number. And...because this movie kinda sucked.
