Great Malaysian Social Drama of a good old Malaysia
1 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I feel Malaysia has changed somewhat, and this movie encompasses a good period which Malaysia had back in the 90's. A nice family setting in which two sisters, their rivalry and relationship is highlighted.

It is a reflection of any Malaysian family back in the day, who are struggling with their personal problems and trying to fight everyday to survive and fight through their problems. The two main leads, the girls, do fantastic job of showcasing two girls who have alternative personalities, and how they have their differences, but in the end love each other and wish the best for each other.

It really highlights the Malaysian spirit overall in its direction. The scenery of Kuala Lumpur in all its mighty glory back in the 90s, the night scenes which include night markets, bars and clubs, show the day-to-day life of the typical Malaysian youth and how they deal with their affairs.

All of this gives the movie the highlight which it deserves, and anyone looking for a good social drama to get to know the heart of Malaysia should watch this movie.

Timothy Olyphant- RESPECT!
20 May 2023
I don't rate action movies in the very tippy top of my tier of movies, but in this case, I have to make an exception. Hitman (2007) is the kind of movie that is what is known as a generic ABC kind of movie. It has all the elements which are generic and cliched, except for one, and that is the awesome acting of Timothy Olyphant. I really appreciate him now after watching this movie. It shows that a mundane action movie can also be ten times greater if the acting matches the character on the screen, and it did. I appreciate the hard-work he put in this movie when it came to the correct character representation, of how the character moved, to how he held a gun and talked. Also credit to the director for shooting scenes beautifully and not relying too much (or any) on CGI.

He really brought a lot of variation to the character and added depth to his everyday mundane life of killing people for a living.

Apart from Timothy's astounding acting I loved the direction of the action scenes and the way some scenes were written and portrayed, which also made them unique in my view.

All-in-all a great watch which is not to be missed for action movie lovers.

Kaalia (1997)

A good movie
31 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Kaalia (1997) is often confused with Amitabh Bacchan movie which was released in 1983. The Mithun Chakraborty one is very good and has a different story and has actors who mostly worked in the 90's era in Mithun's other movies also.

It is mostly a masala film with Mithun being wrongly framed for murder and must take revenge for the wronf acts committed against him. It's a good movie in the sense that it engages and encapsulates the audience and from the get-go doesn't give the audience the chance to get bored.

The film viewers who love masala movies will love this movie and the action in the movie by Mithun Da is a treat to the fans of any genre.

Overall a decent movie and one of the better ones of the 'Mithun's Dream Factory' era.

A good movie.
22 January 2023
People don't understand movies and they are reviewing this. It's supposed to be slow and boring at times. But it's very nice. The story is something we have all seen before, with a little of twist here and there.

The great part is that Sam Worthington is a good actor and it's really fun to watch him. This should be Sam's comeback hit!

The bad part about is perhaps some of the story is convoluted and doesn't make sense. But that's about it, it is very good on the dialogue part, acting part and direction. Matthew Nable is excellent and it's a lot of fun to see him be intimidating at times.

Australia is a great country and they know their stuff. Overall a good watch.

Wire Room (2022)

A good movie.
4 November 2022
This is a good movie. Why are people giving such low ratings? What went wrong? The camera work, the story and the acting is very good. People just are angry at Bruce Willis doing low budget movies. It's his life, his choices. And he retired now and gave us these low budget gems, accept it.

Kevin Dillon is the star of this movie along with the main villain and anti-hero. It should be like this. 1 hour 30 minutes and the movie is done. Not every movie has to be 500 million dollars budgeted. I really respect and love all the actors that worked on this and also desperately waiting for a 'Wire Room' (Part 2) !

Decent decent movie
23 October 2022
This here is a decent take on vampires, their history and an Anti-Hero who saves the day with the help of new recruits.

Not the best movie and not the worst. Acting is great by Thomas Jane. Needs work on the scriptwriting, cinematography, direction and dilaogues. It tried to act too cool and got the plot all confused. Even with the social influencer take, it should have been just a simple direction, not all woozy and stuff.

Good part is the acting, ending, makeup, visual effects, some of the dialogue, Thomas Jane.

Love Thomas Jane. And love low budget movies. These movies are movies too! Good Halloween 2022 movie.

Nice movie with with nice comedy and action.
10 September 2022
What does one need more? One has action, comedy, romance and drama all combined in one movie. Akshay Kumar is doing some serious acting in this film, he is not at his best, but still very good from what he has been doing for the past few years. I downloaded this movie, illegally I might add, from the internet and just now gave it a watch. I believed it would be just another quick watch, with a predictable story-line and predictable dialogues. But I was wrong. It has a nice intriguing story and good catchy humour.

I believe Indian audiences have grown wise in the past few years and only prefer movies which have a very strong script and also less or no songs. Quite like what is shown in Hollywood. The 'masala' generation of movies are now history or going to be out of fashion in the coming years. But had this movie been released 10 years ago, it would have earned a lot both commercially and critically.

I, for one. Prefer 'masala' movies as a form of entertainment and education, one can relieve stress and also learn something along the way, like some good dialogues or catchy-songs etc.

Plus from me, but sad to know this movie didn't earn much at the box-office. And also sad to know that 'masala' movie types are going to be a thing of the past in the coming years.

One of Dharam Paaji's best 90's movies!
18 August 2022
Dharamendra is the one actor who needs no introduction. Fast forward to 2022, this movie is available free of cost on YouTube and I watched and loved it. It is a bit formulaic in its structure but its fun to watch.

The songs are also very nice.

Passable at most.
16 August 2022
It's passable at most. The second half kills it for me. The twist ruins the fun of the Esther character, rather than adding to it. I went to it unexpectedly and immediately knew this movie was forced, cause after the 2009 version this version was made out of the blue in a hurry with no prior planning.

They should have made it in the years after the first one, not after nearly a decade and a half. Since the original actress for it returned, she has aged and that decreased the imoressivenes of the character.

Genuine movie made and adapted from the heart.
12 August 2022
I won't write spoilers and I am reviewing the movie as a neutral watcher. India, Pakistan and much of the world as well needed this sort of movie in times like these. It made me cry and it made me laugh, and tons of social messages. Period. That's what's needed, something you can take back home and work upon.

I know it's inspired or it's an official remake but trust me when I say this, it's an INDIAN movie at the very soul and that's what makes it fun and enjoyable for us Indians and Pakistanis etc. We need to set differences apart before these differences consume us to the very end. I hope it makes enough money for Aamir Khan sir to make more movies in the future.

All the venom that is being spewed by the masses, they just need to take a deep breath and watch this movie and believe in a miracle. Thank you. Jai Hind. Pakistan Zindabad. God bless us all.

THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE.
5 August 2022
The ' Best movie I have ever watched'. I will take these words to the grave with me. Alfred Pacino should have won an Oscar for his role. Lee Strassberg proved that he is like a father figure both on and off the screen for Alfred Pacino. John Cazzelle will be missed, despite 5 iconic performances in 5 iconic movies.

Better than first one with more Tommy Jones.
12 July 2022
Tommy Lee Jones is back as the head of the US Martial gang. Surprisingly I saw this movie and its prequel only yesterday. And I can safely say that this is the better movie. The first one has more Harrison Ford scenes and its more revolved around him. Tommy Lee is the man to witness more and more, and in this one he has more scenes and is the hero without being the hero.

Mohra (1994)

Mohra is the name of the last few good thriller movies Bollywood has.
12 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Mohra starts off with a bang and goes on and on with decent twists and flicks. Akshay, Paresh, Sunil, Naseer, Raza, Gulshan, Raveena and other side actors like Sadashiv and Harish Patel make it a fun ride all along!

The trick is that it has excellent story, doesn't matter if its copied or inspired from somewhere, with great music and great twists in between and in the end, something that lacks in movies nowadays, people aren't rewarded for their patience with the movie.

John Carpenter knows how to make Thrillers.
12 July 2022
John Carpenter knows how to make movies, make no mistake about it. This is in Carpenter's Top 3 movies. The real fun is in the short time span of the movie, and that it doesn't stop from the get go. Has the raw feeling of shooting live guns and getting real blood spilled out.

John Carpenter paved way for movies with gore effects without using CGI or any other kind of Tomfoolery. Kudos Sir!

Adieu Shree Rajiv Kapoor ji.
24 May 2022
I just watched and felt this nearly 2 hour movie, and I have to say I am taken aback by what I experienced. It is a well shot movie, low budget but highly standardised, excellent acting and good script.

Without writing any spoilers I will just say that this movie is made from the heart and soul, and there isn't any moment one would feel that there is superficialness in this film whatsoever!

Dalip Tahil a veteran actor, Rajiv Kapoor a veteran actor and Sanjay Dutt also a veteran actor, all join forces to make it the movie that it is.

It was really sad that Rajiv Kapoor couldn't watch the release of his last movie taking place, but the work that has been done by everyone including the new young actor has been fabulous and a fitting tribute to the KAPOOR FAMILY.

<3 REST IN PEACE Rajiv Kapoor.

The Godfather (1972)
10/10
There are films and then there is 'The Godfather'.
29 March 2022
Just like Muhammad Yusuf (Dilip Kumar) the Icon of Indian Cinema is the Pinacle of Acting in the East, 'The Godfather' is the Pinacle of Moviemaking in the West.

1972 was the time, perhaps never to be revised again, when the great actors of the Black and White era transitioned onto color movies. Marlon Brando was one of them and this meant the past, present and future of Hollywood colliding together to create the masterpiece of masterpieces. Alfred Pacino, James Caan and the young director Francis Ford Coppola were the future, in association with the best of the past Marlon Brando. Thus, history was created and 'The Godfather' was made. I don't believe personally that there will be a time again in the future of American of British Cinema when there can be Talent such as this producing content such as this. The 'Good Times' of Film-making are surely behind us as Ideas such as these and Novels such as these have been written, sold and the ideas have been spent.

Like all things Filmmaking may also die oneday, but the story of Mario Puzo's 'The Godfather', which came in the form of a Book from 'Fact to Fiction and then onto Live Screen into a movie, shall live on for ever and ever.

Personally my second best movie of all time, very close to the Sequel 'The Godfather Part 2' which is my most favourite movie till-date.

The Batman (2022)
5/10
Medicore movie.
12 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A mediocre take on the batman. Slow, dull but worst of all, full of clichés. Ideas and film points which have been used in previous movies, which made this movie quite predictable. Why does Pattinson have the same sad sound and dialect used by Bale in his movies

Also both Batman and Alfred get bombed at point-blank range but they survive! How come? Jeez Batman doesn't even get a scratch on his face. I just went for the first time IMAX experience here in Malaysia.

Nothing ground breaking, guess that's too much to as for from movies in the 21st Century...

Madhuri Jee is back!
28 January 2022
I wanted to see this film and finally saw it in 2022 after 15 years. Well I am glad I saw it while I was alive, cause it was big back in the day. She made an excellent comeback after 90's and some early 2000 hits. I miss the 2000 s and some moments and films from 2010s, cause the way forward for Indian movies and life around the world just looks too... Untalented.

Very nice movie, made with a nice heart.
19 December 2021
Movies are made with heart and this is sole example of this film. Faissal Khan bhai despite all odds against him makes a good film. It has thrills, chills and nice romantic songs as well. Is this the best of the lot? I don't think so but it does justice to what Faissal bhai went through and the budget amount of $150 Million made movies we are seeing nowadays in Hollywood/Bollywood which are sorry excuses in their own right, they lack soul. This movie has soul.

Wish best of luck to Faisal bhai for his next venture and hope it can be better on the storyline department. :) <3.
