Gran Turismo (2023)
My brother would've loved it
I'll start by saying I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and felt it was well done. As a kid I played Gran Turismo a lot on PlayStation with my older brother, I'd watch him play and he taught me to play until I eventually became better than he was. We continued to play each new Gran Turismo as they came out for years until My brother passed away this year in a car accident and I couldn't help but thinking he would've really enjoyed this movie. Wish I could've watched it with him. Thanks to all involved in making this film and the phenomenal actors as well! Not trying to get sappy but this movie truly meant a lot to me. Definitely recommend it.
Tiny Creatures (2020)
Not for adults.
If you gave this a 1 star you don't have children and that's fine but this show probably isn't for you. This is a scripted documentary with trained animals for kids.. If you have kids I highly recommend it! My 2 year old LOVED it, smiling and laughing the whole time. I wish they made more stuff like this for kids/toddlers vs. Making another cocomelon.. this is educational and fun for children/family. Kudos to the trainers and directors for making interesting and fun stories with adorable animals. It is dramatic at times but overall very light hearted and fun! My 2yo has watched every episode multiple times.
The Watcher (2022)
Good till the end
If you don't like cliff hangers then don't waste your time cause you'll end up mad. I personally really liked the show, actors were pretty good (it was refreshing to see Naomi watts and stifflers mom) haha and it definitely felt like a "who done it" vibe and had me second guessing myself the whole time. Parts will have you scratching your head, angry and laughing. It's got a little bit of everything except horror, it's not in the slightest scary, no jump scares even that I recall. So overall, not perfect but if you like mystery shows that keeps you guessing then I'd definitely recommend you give it a try.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Not your average horror show
If you like face paced jump scares then this isn't for you. Personally I find the directing and overall flow of the entire show to be perfect. Mike Flanagan is amazing, I've loved all of his work so far. This shows horror is deep, subtle at times and really connects with the fears of a child and on to adulthood. Acting was superb as well in my opinion, there was at least one character everyone could connect with. If you like horror and drama and are tired of your typical cheap jump scare movies/shows then I can't recommend this enough. I've watched it all the way through 4 times already! Give it a shot!
From (2022)
A pleasant surprise
EPIX original.. wasn't honestly expecting much but couldn't stop watching. Had me guessing at every turn. Great plot, interesting characters and genuinely enjoyable. If you can't decide what to watch and you like weird, mystery dramas then I highly recommend you give "From" a chance!
The Terminal List (2022)
Not for the sensitive
Don't listen to the whiners. If you have issues with guns and liberty, this isn't for you. For the rest, watch it!! Enjoyed every second. Best war/military/action-drama I've seen In a long time.
True Detective: Who Goes There (2014)
One to remember.
This is honestly this single best episode of any show I've ever seen. It stays with you, I think about it randomly and just makes me want to watch the show all over again. Though now I feel like most shows I watch are terrible after seeing such perfection in drama tv. Well done.
February (2015)
Vague
The whole time watching this movie the word vague just kept popping in my head and it's a perfect description. Vague. I'm all for subtleties but this movie just felt like you're waiting to learn who, what, when, how the whole time and then it ends.
The Bob's Burgers Movie (2022)
For the fans!
So they definitely made the movie so if you didn't watch the show you could still watch and understand it but they had quite a few jokes in it that were references from the show. Was surprisingly more dramatic than I would've imagined but so much good bobs burgers style comedy all throughout! Highly recommend wether you've watched the show or not.
Altered Carbon (2018)
Agree with other reviews..
Watch the first season, don't waste time on 2nd. So sad.. show had amazing potential! I loved the futuristic world they created in the first season and was hooked and so excited for the 2nd season but they poo'd the bed so to speak.
Euphoria: Trying to Get to Heaven Before They Close the Door (2022)
Fezco
So this whole episode was amazing but Fezco made it for me.. That last 30 seconds was amazing. Nate deserved it 100%. I also thought the cinematography of this episode was done very well, like many other episodes.
Earthquake: Legendary (2022)
Sad
Had high hopes after hearing him on Joe Rogan, he seemed funny on the podcast but it was unfortunately garbage.. maybe his next special will be better hopefully!
The Grand Tour (2016)
Not top gear but..
If you want top gear, go watch top gear. Though this still has many of the same feels, information and laughs, it is quite a different show that I thoroughly enjoyed! Definitely recommend for some laughs and occasional car information from the perfect trio of men.
Dexter: New Blood (2021)
A satisfying end.
The original Dexter will always be one of my favorites and I was overall pleased with new blood. They did a great job with keeping some of the core elements/feel of the show while also bringing in a new feel to it. Though it was quite predictable for the most part I still feel it was a great ending to an iconic show. Highly recommend for anyone that enjoyed the original.
Nightmare Alley (2021)
Great twist, great acting.
Thoroughly enjoyed this movie, they did a great job with the overall atmosphere of the 1930-40s and life of a carney. It was very dark and dramatic with great performances by Bradley copper and Kate blanchet in particular. Definitely recommend! Though it's a little long/slow so if that's not your kind of movie then it might not be for you.
Malignant (2021)
Not the James wan we know.
I was very excited to see this movie because I have loved most of James Wan's previous horror films. I believe he was just going for something different with Malignant compared to The conjuring and typical horror films and overall I'd say he accomplished that. That being said I did thoroughly enjoy the movie though didn't find it scary at all. Definitely worth a watch but it won't go down as James Wan's best by any means.
Clarkson's Farm (2021)
Pure entertainment
I have no interest in farming whatsoever but I will say I loved this show. I binged the whole season. Educational, fun, light, hilarious. Hope Jeremy does more shows like this! Definitely recommend watching it!
Castle Rock (2018)
For Stephen King Fans!
If you love Stephen king, ominous and eerie shows then you'll love this. Best I've seen in a while. Reminded me of bates motel a bit but with more sci-fi to it. It's not perfect but I'd still highly recommend it!
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
It's not the conjuring we love but...
If you watch this movie expecting it to be like James Wans conjuring's, you will be disappointed. That being said it definitely wasn't very scary compared to the first two but I did really enjoy it! It had a good feel to it and was quite eerie and spooky. Worth a watch for sure.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Not what I expected.
The overall movie turned out to be a lot better than I expected, I was starting to think the ending was going to ruin it but I was very happy with how it ended. That being said I hope the person responsible for the sound track reads this, the music was horrendous and extremely annoying. Definitely worth watching though!
Space Force (2020)
Sucks.
Had potential, they blew it. Great cast, interesting premise but it sucks. Disappointed.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Disney did a disservice
Update: I decided to watch it again after originally seeing it in theaters when it first came out thinking maybe I overreacted but nope. It's still that bad. Honestly pisses me off. So much potential.. 275 million dollars worth of poop.
I have enjoyed the newer series of Star Wars Disney has done but this last movie just felt rushed, undermining the originals, went overboard with exaggerating the force and felt like they could have made this into two movies. Needed a better build up! So many things In this movie just randomly happened to fit the agenda for the ending. It felt as if we had missed a movie.. There were many moments I really enjoyed but overall was left very disappointed. I hope Disney stops here.
Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj (2018)
Great show to learn facts and get some laughs too.
So many reviews saying "not fact based". I have always been a sceptic so I reasearch everything. I am more of a conservative but I have researched nearly every topic he's covered and they're always correct. I love this show. Sure he also throws in his little quips and opinions in the mix but the serious stuff he talks about are hard facts. So for those saying it's lies and biased, try out google sometime and don't be so narrow minded! Just cause you don't like what someone says doesn't mean it's not true.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Just plain lazy writing.
I didn't have high hopes for the last episode as the show had already been ruined but was hopeful they would at least have given us something to be happy about. So many plot holes. Still an amazing show and I think the actors did a great job, I don't blame them in any way. D&D will go down in HBO history as the most incompetent writers that ruined one of the best shows we'll ever have seen.
