Tetherball: The Movie (2010)
Great Drinking Movie
For a beer and boobs comedy, what more can you ask for? This is a great movie to get the guys together and knock back a few brews while watching, and you'll have no problem getting wasted, as this movie is ripe with drinking game possibilities. Besides getting smashed, enjoy some genuinely funny performances from Ron Jeremy, Dustin Diamond, and the rest of the cast. All the characters are cast perfectly and each have their own stand-out moments. I was especially impressed with Brian Titus' role. He had great comedic timing and took a role that could have been easily forgettable and made it stand out. The action scenes were cut very well, especially the boxing scenes in the beginning with Rick Dawson. For the most part, you can't really tell it was shot on a low budget, although there were a few scenes that seemed to be added later with a cheaper camera. Overall, Tetherball: The Movie is successful in its intentions and delivers what it promises. There is beer, there are hot girls, and there are laughs.
The Invisible (2007)
Pathetic
This movie is just preteen garbage. If you look at the voting charts, the average vote for females under 18 was an 8.1. I bet you that those females were rating how attractive the main character was. From the opening shot of the movie, I already didn't like it. It shows a stuck up rich kid named Nick at his graduation party. Even though the opening shot is a dream, it doesn't get much better. I have no reason to care for this character. He lost his dad, but this is only mentioned once or twice, so we quickly forget about it and just think of him as a punk rich kid. Then there's Annie, the criminal who lives in a small apartment with her step-mom, dad, and younger brother. Her situations are shown so briefly that again, we don't care about them. She sulks around wearing a black winter hat and other black clothes, just like every criminal does, right? Annies boyfriend rats her out after she steals from a jewelry store and Annie is too stupid to think it was him, so she goes after Nick's best friend because he looked at her in the hallway at school. Nick's friend blames it on Nick, because Nick is supposed to be flying to London for a writing school, but it turns out Nick has second thoughts and doesn't go. Annie and her gang hunt Nick down and beat him senseless. After a kick to the face, Annie believes she killed him. Annie, her gang, and Nick's best friend hide him in a sewer.
Nick now comes back as a ghost. No one can see him, or hear him. He repeatedly breaks stuff and throws stuff, only for them to be restored to their normal state seconds later. He continues to shout "Hello! Can anybody hear me!?" even though everybody obviously can not.
The cops eventually are on Annie's tail, and soon, Annie begins to hear Nick. Nick's friend threatens to go to the police, but Annie reminds him that he was there, so he would go to jail too. Oh yes, just being at the place were someone was beaten to death, and even yelling "Stop! Stop!" and then having the actual offenders threaten to kill you if you told will land you a spot in jail.
This movie was truly pathetic. It was repetitive and annoying, and didn't make to much sense. The acting wasn't awful, but the direction was boring. Everything was so predictable. Do yourself a favor, and do not see this movie.
1408 (2007)
1408 is a ghost story that actually works
1408 is not your typical ghost story, and that's why it works! It's not a family moving into the haunted mansion, or teenagers trying to solve the death of a ghost they met. It's something completely new, and that's what makes it a good ghost story. John Cusack plays a writer who writes about haunted places after he visits them. After receiving a post card from the Dolphin Hotel, he decides to check out the haunted room they have to offer. After repeated warnings from the hotel manager(Samuel L. Jackson), Cusack decides to stay in the room. Whit out giving too much away, I liked that in this movie, John Cusack can't escape what he's going through. In other ghost movies, the people can easily run and leave the haunted place, but this movie is different in that way that the character cannot escape what's happening. The movie has plenty of jumps, scares, twists, and turns to keep going until the movie is finished. If you're looking for a fresh type of ghost story, check into 1408, and you shouldn't be disappointed.
The Office (2005)
My Absoulute Favorite Show
Thursday is my favorite day of the week for two reasons. 1. The weekend is only a day away. 2. My favorite show "The Office" is on. Steve Carell is one of the funniest people on the planet. I like the show because of the style of humor it uses. It's not laugh out loud funny (All though I have laughed out loud several times), but it's the kind that makes you chuckle. Every character has a distinct personality that almost every office in America has. The loser boss, the boss's suck up, the two flirts, etc. Each character contributes to the show in their own way.
Overall, very great show. Highly Recommended.
