The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
NOT PERFECT BUT REALLY ENJOYBLE
If you are Tolkien hardcore fan that believes everything should be according to what the greatest author ever wrote about LOTR than this is not the show for you. Move on.
Three things that made the show amazing for me:
1) Breath-taking scenery and world building. The show introduces us to the various realms and kingdoms of 2nd age Middle-Earth with excellent detail and spectacular sceneries.
3) Introduces us to interesting characters amongst differ races. Great concept creation and character development with twists along the way.
3) Plot sense of mystery - We know the plot is about Sauron's ascend to power and the forging of the rings to to enslave the three dominant races. How and why remains a well hidden secret. The motives and desires of each character are not simple and straightforward which creates an additional mystery fog to the plot.
One Piece Film: Red (2022)
Very Boring
One does not tend to expect much for an anime movie spinoff. Still, the bar has dropped so low nowadays.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Action was limited and predictable. Cool battle choreography was little and they mostly depended on cool flashy lights and CGI (which is nice if balanced with good battle choreography).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) I still don't understand what Tot musica is and where it came from. Why was it connected to Utia etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) A cocktail of characters that mostly appeared and did nothing. Writers need to understand that it's much better to deploy a handful of old characters with a handful of new ones, put the Mugiwara in the middle and write a story. Obviously, throwing too much is nostalgic and easier for writers to get away, as usually they are pressed for time.
My point is I'd like to forget Big Mom crew or CP0 or Coby were even involved in this movie.
All in all, watchable, at best.
