Ron and Laura Take Back America (2014)
Hilarious Satire spot on about the current state of America!
Right on time for the Summer of Trump! I saw this film at the LA premiere and was blown away by how funny and biting it was. Ron and Laura are the typical conservatives, but the film also makes fun of the crazy liberals running around in the movie too! No one is spared in this sharp satire that sometimes is arch, other times is screwball -- and the film brings up some serious subjects (the son is Gay and wants to be accepted by his conservative parents who are against Gay marriage) Jim J. Bullock is hilarious as the Gay reality star designer Ron and Laura mistakenly think is a conservative hero, and Sally Kirkland steals the show in a moment not to be missed. England and Markham are a great comic team together - their chemistry is priceless. Truth is stranger than fiction, and this movie hits so close to home you laugh and cry at our current state of affairs!
Best Day Ever (2014)
Rare and Lovely, Heart Felt Film!
Wow! I did not expect a lot out of this movie since most films in this genre are full of gratuitous sex and juvenile jokes. This is totally different and thus most refreshing. The story is simple but with superb acting and a very well written script, it delivers a sincerity and wit absent from most of Hollywood more expensive fare. The characters and their predicaments are extremely relate-able whether you're gay or straight. Mel England in the lead delivers with an exceptionally strong yet nuanced performance making it easy to watch and relate to his character. The supporting cast is also way above par. This could be Jeff London's best movie yet. Be ready to be moved and may be even cry a little. I usually find only Indie films can move me to tears these days. This one certainly delivers. Watch it with friends or someone you're romantic with. It will surely provoke thoughtful discussions afterward. Love it!
