Action packed, fun "popcorn" movie
15 February 2015
Kingsman is one of those movies that just makes you lose yourself and forget about the world for two hours. It is not quite a spoof of classic spy movies, but it uses some of the archetypes, acknowledges it is using them, then gives them a little twist to make them unique for their use. I think all the actors fit their roles well, and it is refreshing to see Sam Jackson step out of the type of bad ass roles he has been cast in lately. The stop motion wire fighting is top notch, and every time the violence borders on going too far, something is done to lighten the mood a little. I think the only major issue I had is the use of the "f-word," it not only bordered on over use, I don't think it fit all the characters. It could have been well used to differentiate the boys from the--well,from the Kingsman. All in all, a fun ride from start to finish.

Galavant (2015–2016)

Good light-hearted fun
5 January 2015
Shows like Galavant are an acquired taste. This show will never win any awards, and I think they are wise to go with a four week limited run--it would never survive as an on-going series. But it is FUN. All the actors take their roles right to the point of chewing scenery, then leave it there. The songs are light, and the sexual overtones are just enough to make you laugh without covering your kids' ears. You may not want to go out of your way to watch this show when it is on, but DVR it and watch it sometime. If you like Monty Python or Family Guy, you will probably enjoy this show enough to give it a try. If you don't like it after the first two episodes, it is only an hour of your time. And oh, if you use the DVR, don't fast forward through the commercials!
