Why a demotion? DC Havers not only rescued a child, but also Inspector Lynley! He had no life saver nor any floating raft, but was just left with the child in the middle of the sea. Nobody mentioned that the Detective driving the boat was wrong to drive away, leaving them both to drown. Unbelievable!
