Due to the series being unfortunately cancelled, the story is not *entirely* completed. That being said, I do feel that enough of the plotlines are resolved for the series to be worth watching. The biggest questions are answered, though there are a few new mysteries presented in the final episode that unfortunately will never be unraveled. Overall, the experience is still very enjoyable.

This was my first Spanish TV series, which led to me to watch several more from many of the same fantastic creators, writers, directors, and actors. However, I have yet to see another series from any country that has quite been able to match this one (in my opinion.) I've seen it compared to Downtown Abbey. The two series are very different, since this is mystery/suspense. They are, however, superficially similar in many ways, giving them the same 'feel.' As a fan of both shows, I give 'Gran Hotel' the edge, for whatever it's worth for fans of Downton who are deciding whether to give this a try.

Super suspenseful, and never predictable. The intricate story manages to cover a lot of ground over the span of few episodes, while remaining very character-focused. If it had gotten more international exposure, it probably would have been renewed for many more seasons.

As Embassy setting might not be for everyone, but as long as you don't mind it, this series is incredible. I'm a native English speaker and typically enjoy HBO and Showtime dramas - and I enjoyed this series even more than most of those.
