95ers: Time Runners (2013)
What?
Nearly everything about this film was very good indeed, well above what one would expect for the small budget. I was not impressed with the bad wig that the main character was wearing when she was first seen in the carol singing group.
The only bad thing about it was that other than the main character being able to rewind time, the main story line ended nowhere and I was left at the end feeling betrayed.
I use that word as I really expected better and really wanted to find out what the heck was going on. Nothing about what the people in the future were trying to do and why and what happened to her husband.
There was a plot hole that was not explained...how could her boss at the FBI tell she was rewinding time as he would have no memory of it?
Andròn: The Black Labyrinth (2015)
Bloody awful
This was an awful film. It was similar to a film that I saw a while back, but damned if I can remember which one.
This is the sort of film that one watches to the end, in the hope that it will pick up in some way, but does not. So at the end all one can do is wonder what the story was about and what was the point of the film.
Then there was an actress who's lack of talent was so stark, one did not have to wonder how she got the part, if you see what I mean. Wink, wink. I do not know her name as I cannot find a photo of her but the is black and her character has a shaven head. Whenever she was in a scene, the flow of the film came to an emergency stop until she did an exit.
If you value your life, do not waste any time on this. It may look better if it is watched when one is with friends and heavily medicated, but I doubt it.
I Am Wrath (2016)
I could not finish either...
Just like a fellow reviewer, I could not finish watching this execrable waste of celluloid (if they still use it, natch).
Where to start? Mr Travolta must have needed to fill up his jumbo jet to take the lead in this. This is such a poor avenue for his talents he must have been desperate.
I know this is sad, but I found Mr Travolta's *perfectly* sharp hairline to be distracting when we know that his natural look is more akin to that of Kojak.
Just think of every tired cliché you can, and cram it into this and you will have an idea of how the plot unfolds. Whether it is that the lead once used to be some sort of secret-service operative. He has a friend who is still in the business (unofficially) who can get him loads of information on the bad guys. This friend talks to him as if he is a rookie just for the benefit of those intellectually challenged members of the audience.
I made it halfway through until I barfed and gave up.
Ascension (2014)
It's okay, but...
This series had me interested, being a Sci-fi fan.
It has so many plot holes it is driving me nuts. So the character in control of the (super top secret) experiment was taken there as a child by his father many times and got deeply involved with the characters. Yeah, right and a child would not have blabbed to his friends at school.
Then we have a 'top-secret' murder enquiry which interviews so many people that the chance of keeping it secret would be below zero.
Medical equipment is used incorrectly (laryngoscope used upside down), some of the medical procedures are used incorrectly (you cannot and should not intubate a fitting patient anyway, especially without giving them a muscle relaxant) and choral hydrate has not been used since the 1950s. And this is an experiment that is supposed to have given MRIs to the World. Everybody seems to be screwing everybody else other than their other halves and most of these trysts seem to be secret. If one works in a close environment, it does not take too long before everybody else knows everybody's business. For some reason, it was dropped into the plot that gays were excluded from the experiment by one of the characters assuming that another one assuming she was gay. The gay character said that was not possible as gays pop up everywhere (or words to that effect).
This is supposed to be science-fiction and not a porn flick. I do like my porn, but not in a sci-fi program.
That is just scratching the surface.
I am really dreading watching the last episode as I am really expecting a BIG let-down and lots of loose ends. If I knew this show was a Syfy production, I would never have started watching it in the first place.
